From the Author

This is not a young adult series and it is intended for mature readers over 18. The first book in the series contains several erotic sex scenes and maintains a high level of eroticism throughout the whole novel, which can be very explicit at times. But, the overall content is not considered "erotica" for categorization -- and I should know since I read, write, and edit erotica professionally.

Please, if you offend easy, or do not like detailed sex scenes, do not purchase these books. While the second book isn't as steamy as the first, it still has explicit sex in it. If you liked LKH books before she descended into 100-page sex scenes spanning several chapters, then you might enjoy this series as well.

Well, where to begin and what to say? Ms. Ellisson has crafted an incredible story here. Let me just say at the outset that I do NOT go for "romance novels", nor do I really look for books with explicit sex (call me prude, call me old-fashioned, call me whatever you'd like to call me...it's just the way I roll). This book drew me in because of the vampire angle, to be frank. I felt as though I was taking a risk, because "Twilight" did the same, and...yeah, no comment. This book has "adult" romance, and I mean that on an emotional level, not just the sex. VAMPIRES!! Can I say it enough times? These are REAL vampires, and most certainly DO NOT sparkle in the sunlight. OK, so they're in Alaska. A good place for vamps to hang out (at least in the winter). Also, they drink human blood, and make no apologies for what they are.

The book is written from what I call "First-Person Present". No idea if that's a real term or not. I have read very few books, or even stories, written in this style, and have been turned off by them all--not so here...it works, and I had a hard time putting down my Kindle until I was finished.

To touch a little more on the romance angle...this human/vampire pairing works wonderfully. It does not come off as cliche in any sense of the word. Also--I love mystery, and this book crosses over into that realm as well. All in all, a very well-rounded story. I fear to say too much A) for fear of giving away too much; and B) in fear of sounding gushy. So I shall conclude with an endorsement: BUY THIS BOOK. If you like romance, vampires, sex (or even if you don't), and even mystery. It is well worth it.

Now, I shall take my own advice and go buy Book Two in the series.....

Vivian and Rafe own and operate an inn north of the Arctic Circle. The remote location makes an ideal get-a-way for their fanged guests. A new entourage is due to arrive in just a few hours so Vivian is doing a final inspection tour to ensure all is in readiness for the new guests. Unfortunately, she learns all is not well at the VV Inn when she discovers a dead body. So begins the adventure and mystery.

I loved the humor that was woven throughout this engaging story. It was a pleasure to read the well-edited pages. There were quite a few secondary characters within the story but the author did a great job individualizing the important ones so that it was easy for me to keep track of who was who. The descriptions of the landscape glistening under a heavy blanket of pristine snow in the near continuous darkness were so realistic and believable that a few times I actually shivered.

Vivian sets the bar high with her alluring sexuality and there are several scenes that are intense and provocative. The exceptionally erotic sex-scenes, however, are written in a fun, playful manner and the reader is encouraged to abandon inhibitions and fully enjoy the freedom of the fantasy.

This book is the first in a planned series by this debut author and I am looking forward to further madcap adventures with Vivian, the sometimes despotic ruler of her domain, Rafe, her soul mate and fierce protector, and all the other unforgettable characters who serve the dedicated and loving couple.

I would love to have a week at Vivian's Vampire Inn. Hot tubs nestled in the snow surrounded by bushes and trees wound with lights, pool area enclosed in glass complete with palm trees and tropical birds, and rooms that have anything you can imagine for your greatest fantasy.
Your host and hostess Vivian and Rafe make it their mission to make your visit unforgetable. I just wouldn't want to be there the week Ivan showed up for revenge leaving dead and drained bodies in his wake!
Humor, smokin hot sex, vampires, and a werewolf....what more can you ask for?
I can recommend this book to any PNR lover, and am looking forward to V V 2 coming out this spring. I enjoyed every minute of it.
