This book is third in the Vampire Queen series and is great. IN the begining I was not sure if it was going to be as good as the first two, but keep going. I quickly fell in love with Lady Danny and Dev. And of course Hill's erotic love scences are like no one elses. Once again she has set the bar even higher.
This book is an amazing read.

Dark, erotic vampire tale,
By Jennifer Ray (Nashville, TN United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: A Vampire's Claim (Vampire Queen) (Paperback)
When a human male and a female vampire find common ground, a bond is formed that blazes the trail to a more substantial emotion - love.
Both Dev and Lady Daniela have lost their families. Each is alone in the world, with no one to rely on but themselves. That is, until they meet each other. From their very first encounter, the attraction between them is undeniable. Of course, neither of them really tries to deny it, lol. Beyond the physical attraction, however, they soon realize there is something more between them, something lasting. Lady Daniela stirs every protective instinct that alpha male Devlin has. But Daniela is a born vampire, and is normally quite capable of protecting herself. When an attempt on her life is barely thwarted, however, she realizes the time has come for her to take a vampire servant. Marking Dev would not only strengthen her, but would cement the connection between them in the most permanent of ways. The question is whether Dev can submit to Lady Daniela as a servant to a vampire must? Failure in this area can mean certain death to him and worse, possibly to the woman he loves should her enemies see her as weak. Joey W. Hill delivers the third tale in her VAMPIRE QUEEN saga, A VAMPIRE'S CLAIM. This story takes us back in time to when Lady Daniela and Dev first met. Readers were first introduced to this charismatic couple in the previous story, THE MARK OF THE VAMPIRE QUEEN, and I was delighted to learn this new book explores their relationship. Both Dev and Lady Daniela are heartbreaking characters. Each carries the pain of lost loved ones with them, and that pain draws them together as surely as their sexual desire does. Beyond the pain and desire, however, they find a deeper connection, one that would equal love and forever in a human relationship. In the world of vampire politics, though, love between a vampire female and her human servant is frowned upon. It is acceptable to have a human male for a servant, but to treat him as an equal? It just isn't done. Things work a little differently in private, however. Lady Daniela is certainly dominant most of the time, but she shares the power in their relationship with Dev, allowing him full reign when he needs it. Dev is a fantastic specimen of a man. He is resourceful, caring, strong, and pretty much every other positive quality you might want in a romantic hero. It isn't hard to understand just why Lady Daniela is drawn to him. I do have to say that the story started out a little bit slow for me. The beginning moved at a pace that was a little slow, yet still fascinating. It didn't take long for things to pick up, however, and no matter the pacing, all of it was good. Although I'm a fast reader, all of the VAMPIRE QUEEN books have been slower reads for me, and I believe it is due to the intricate politics of the vampire society that Ms. Hill has crafted in these books. This isn't a bad thing, but it does slow me down a little. Also, readers should be prepared for a story that is rife with darkness, and some pretty intense sexual scenes. This world has no limits, and it isn't unusual to see a female dominating a man, some BDSM, and even a little male/male eroticism. A VAMPIRE'S CLAIM is a fantastic continuation of an addictive series, and will undoubtedly thrill fans of Joey W. Hill's just as it did me. Lovers of paranormal romance who are new to this series will have no trouble diving in with this book first if they so wish, as it works remarkably well as a standalone novel. **4.5 Bookmarks, courtesy of Wild on Books** Series Order: The Vampire Queen's Servant (Vampire Queen, Book 1) The Mark of the Vampire Queen (Vampire Queen, Book 2) A Vampire's Claim

Another fantastic Vampire story by Joey Hill,

This review is from: A Vampire's Claim (Vampire Queen) (Paperback)
Vampire's Claim is the story of Lady Daniela and Devlin who were secondary characters in Joey's wonderful story, The Mark of the Vampire Queen.
Devlin is on walkabout. He's lost his family and in some ways his soul and no longer spend much time around anyone. He stops at a friends bar for a drink and meets Lady Daniela who has come back to Australia to reclaim her families station. She and Dev spends one passionate and very erotic night together and a bond starts to form between them. Lady D has never taken and human servant and Dev has not had a relationship since he lost his family. Dev decides to stay to help Lady D get safely to her place and what transpires is an action filled adventure full of fierce battles, erotic love scenes and the healing of hearts. Whenever I read a Joey Hill book I am transported to another world, her storytelling is so compelling. This is another wonderful story in her Vampire series and so far this is my favorite one in the series. Highly recommended!

A Vampire's Claim- A Joyfully Recommended Title,
This review is from: A Vampire's Claim (Vampire Queen) (Paperback)
Devlin spots a woman too good to be true, but takes her up on an offer for a night of passion anyway. Dev figures he'll head back to the bush after his evening of lust, but a bad feeling has him following her to make sure she survives the journey home.
Lady Daniela headed home to take back what belongs to her. Being born a vampire it should be easy to take back what is hers because born vampires are revered in her world, but someone stands in her way. When she meets Devlin there is a pull and she marks him in case she wants to find him again, resisting the urge to claim him as her full servant. When he rescues her, the two go on a journey of discovery and retribution. Will Lady Daniela claim the man as hers? Will she give him a choice or will it be taken away from her? A Vampire's Claim had me in its thrall. Joey W. Hill pulled me in and didn't let me go until the bitter end and even then I wanted more. This is the third book in the series, but the first one I've read. I was not confused in the least and enjoyed A Vampire's Claim from the first word. Ms. Hill didn't pull punches with her vampires. She is upfront with the violence these creatures hold. I think that is one of the things I loved. Too many vampire stories focus on making the creatures something they aren't. Ms. Hill let me know right away that the vampires will kill and it wasn't going to be some bad guy to make them feel better. The innocent aren't protected in some code the vampires have. They are ruthless, but there is something about them that makes you want more. Daniela is still young for a vampire and judged like a teen or young adult by her peers. She's grown since she left home and has a lot to prove. Devlin has his own dark past that he keeps to himself, making him feel like he only wants to die. Daniela brings something out in Dev that he thought he lost - the urge to protect. There are a couple of forced scenes in A Vampire's Claim, but it isn't something that is just thrown in the story to be there. It is a necessary part of the book because it shows the true vampire nature. They are sexual, raw and ruthless when needed. A Vampire's Claim built me up from the meeting between Daniela and Dev to the end of the story and I Joyfully Recommend that everyone should sink their teeth into A Vampire's Claim. perhaps the best book in the series also a bit odd in its position being that we have already read about Lady Daniela and Dev in the previous books. This book takes us to their beginning and tells their story. Some of the Australian language takes a bit of swallowing for an Australian - - I found it over the top and not very realistic however i am sure that the occasional person could be found who spoke in such a manner - never the less it did not interfere with the power of the writing or the intensity portrayed by the author. in my opinion i believe this book shows an improved story line and is an excellent read. Be very aware that this book covers many areas of sexual content and considerable violence and could be distasteful to some . If you are into anything goes well worth the read.

A Vampire's Claim,
This review is from: A Vampire's Claim (Vampire Queen) (Kindle Edition)
Lady Daniela is a rare, born vampire. When her mother chooses to meet the sun, she inherits an Australian Outback station, but has to overcome the tyranny of a brutal region master. While on her journey to Thieves' Station, she meets Devlin, an Alpha human who aids her in her quest and sets her libido on fire. Dev shows many times over that he's there for the asking, but when Danny marks him as her servant without his consent, she may lose the one man in two thousand years worth claiming.Ms. Hill does not disappoint with this third book in her well-written vampire series. Set in the starkness of the Australian wilderness, with brief appearances by previous characters, A Vampire's Claim is sure to enthrall and delight not only existing Joey Hill fans, but also those new to her writing.

"A Vampire's Claim" is one hot book. Joey W. Hill writes some intense and beautiful sexual/sensual descriptions of an hunky Aussie with "horse-like" equipment and the beautiful vampire Lady who wants him--bad (badly, bad and in a bad way). Ms. Hill has mastered the description of quite graphic sexual acts, but done with taste and quivering. When she describes this well-endowed gent actually entering her womb with his gigantic member, well, it's hard not to be hard. I'm a male. As in man. I generally don't read vampire erotica, but I'm glad I did in this case. Ms. Hill has a wicked mind and a wanton area of her psyche that gushes and oozes with the wildest things one can imagine.
Our hero, Devlin, part aborigine and all man meets this "Sheila" in a dusty part of a dusty country, and even being fly-ridden doesn't deter them from eating each other up. For some strange reason, I was seeing Nicole Kidman as Lady Daniela, only a much more ripe and wide-bottomed Nicole. If they fatten her up and padded her, she'd be dynamite as our .... vampire heroine. But what is so hot is the sex scenes. The best I've ever read. And it puts the woman on a equal footing with the man--she wants "it" and more and more and more of it. Dev obliges. You want to warm your whole central nervous system? Check out the first few score pages and see how these two "meet" and wind up going absolutely crazy with each other. And it gets MORE intense. More wild. Best sex and vampire erotica I've ever read. Joey W. Hill--inside your married breast beats the heart of wildness.

Joey Hill has done it again. I was completely drawn into this story from the word go. I loved the story of Dev and Lady D. It was slightly different from the first two books. Lady D was not the dominate alpha female that Lady Lyssa was. However, the heat between her and Dev was MAGNIFICENT! I haven't found an author yet who has the unique writing style of Ms. Hill. I am totally looking forward to reading the next two books in the series.

Ms. Hill's books are real. There is no happy ever after without real blood and pain. I was immediately hooked! The writing is potent and addictive! Joey W. Hill has created another success! A little bit of bondage goes a long way, and Lady Daniela certainly knows how to strip a man down, not matter how tough or hardy. Excellent read! The tenderness between the characters is expert, nothing typical or cheesy about Vampire's Claim, such as present in the majority of romance books. I do not say the words MUST READ lightly, so do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in the terrible, violent and strange world of Joey Hill. You will NOT be sorry!
