5.0 out of 5 stars Great vampire movie, with some really good acting!, August 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Vampires - Los Muertos (DVD)
Vampires: Los Muertos, was produced by John Carpenter who directed the first installment of the now two Vampires movies. Tommy Lee Wallace direct's Vampires: Los Muertos this time around, and, his style and eye behind the camera is impressive. This time starring as the vampire hunter is Jon Bon Jovi (The Leading Man, Row Your Boat), who plays Derek Bliss a vampire hunter who goes to New Mexico to take on an assignment. It's relatively simple, to kill Vampires and destroy their leader played by the beautiful Arly Jover (who's quite good in this role). Derek Bliss soon finds out that it will not be an easy task, so he creates, you guessed it -- his own team of Vampire slayers. This time one of them is actually half Vampire, played by the gorgeous Natasha Gregson Wagner. She pops in some kind of miracle pill that helps control the Vampire disease. Without giving away to many of the films secrets, the main theme here is of course Vampire hunting and that is what we get. The whole cast is convincing and there is chemistry between all of them which makes the film more interesting. We get our share of action -- filmed convincingly, and there is lots of it in Vampires: Los Muertos. While the film does have b-movie elements at times (some of the effects look unrealistic), Jon Bon Jovi, and his impressive performance takes Vampires: Los Muertos into A-movie terrain, and without him this film would probably have had a hard time getting there. Jon Bon Jovi makes a great action hero here, and he is probably the sole reason alone that makes Vampires: Los Muertos worth seeing. One more thing, I think this film was at least good enough to have it released theatrically. Anyhow it's yours to see on video, and it's quite a trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires: Los Muertos, August 24, 2002

Well, I just recently saw the movie and I thought it was great! Jon really shined in this movie, Like he doesnt in any other movie! At first, I thought It was more of a blood and guts movie and it is, I like that. I like a movie that follows a plot and keeps you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what's going to happen next. I thought jon would die in the movie. I will not say if he does or not, Just in case no one has seen it. THis is one of Jon's best movie roles ever. I think. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the show!

5.0 out of 5 stars More Bloody than sucking, July 27, 2002
This review is from: Vampires - Los Muertos (DVD)
Yes it's true. The path of the original is not strayed from very often. However, like me, if you are not of a superflus cynical nature and can see past this mere glitch, then what you have is a thoroughly entertaining, though not terribly taxing, romp. Rock star turned actor wannabe Jon Bon Jovi is a hunter in a similar role to Woods in the orig' and while not as commanding, does show that not all crooners are hopeless on the silver screen. The rest of the cast add there blood to the mush but it is definetely Bon Jovi's platter. Not the usual type of " arty " movie he would normally make, I can only assume he was bored or perhaps wanted to practice, as he certainly doesn't need the money.Again, the plot wouldn't trouble the mind of a 12 year old though it moves at a decent pace, enough to keep you interested. Good fun !
