In Vampires Don't Wear Polka-Dots, we are introduced to the soon-to-be-very-odd world of Bailey Elementary School. As our saga opens, the third grade has successfully managed to drive their teacher crazy. Legend has it she has left for the remotest parts of Alaska. Eddie, the class prankster, is thrilled. Not only has he made this class too hot to handle, it means that a NEW teacher is soon to come in!! Ahhh, fresh blood!! (so to speak!)

Well, Bailey Elementary had no idea what they were in for. Their new teacher is a tall, red-haired woman with "eyes the color of lime Kool-Aid". She's also Transylvanian and an absolutely no-nonsense sort of teacher. Most students are immediately intimidated by her thick accent and piercing stare, and almost immediately all students calm down and become the sort of dream students most teachers wish for.

Almost all, that is. Let us not forget about Eddie, who is determined to make sure that the room is run according to HIS adjenda, not hers. At least that's his plan. Of course, Ms. Jeepers has her OWN ideas of how a class should be run.

Suffice it to say that strange and sometimes creepy things begin to happen in class. All the wonderful tricks Eddie tries to play just somehow *don't work*, and there's no good reason why not. Indeed, sometimes tricks that should work perfectly well suddenly defy all laws of physics and logic--like things thrown suddenly changing direction and flying *back* at the thrower-- and, what's more, only when Ms. J is rubbing that strange, glowing brooch she always wears...

As of this writing, there's over 30 Bailey School Kids books, each with a "Don't" title, like "Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips" and "Werewolves Don't Go to Summer Camp". What sets each one apart and makes each worth reading is a light blend of camp and creepiness. The kids throw insults back and forth at each other, and the pace of the book is quick enough to keep even the most jaded reader interested. Yet, the books have moments of real creepiness; finding a coffin-sized box in the basement of Ms. J's house, for example.

What makes the books even more enjoyable is the lack of concrete evidence one way or the other regarding the new, odd character. Maybe Ms. J really IS a vampire, maybe she's not. Maybe there really IS a werewolf at summer camp, maybe there isn't. Quick-witted children and students can easily argue either side of the coin.

Less frightening than the Goosebumps books, this series is a great choice for early readers who are looking to have their spines tickled, but not necessarily completely shaken up. It's also an excellent choice for reluctant readers and children who transitioning from picture to chapter books.

this book is so funny and scary I love this book I first noticed it in my library and a friend reccomended it to me and I ended up reading all of them. I love all of the baily school kid books.

This book is about 5 kids who think their new teacher is a vampire. It is a little scary but very good and whenever their teachers brooch glows it means she is very mad. I read this book in two hours it was so good.

Most of the teachers who had this class left Bailey Elementary because of all of Eddie's pranks. The new teacher, Mrs. Jeepers is different, though. She won't quit no matter what Eddie does. Each day Mrs. Jeepers wears a brooch that kept getting greener and greener as Eddie does something bad. Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is about how Mrs. Jeepers takes control of the third grade, but the kids begin to wonder about her.
I think the authors wrote this book to make people laugh. Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is a very funny, entertaining book. I read the book and laughed.
I really liked this book because of the interesting way it was written. There are all kinds of clues and mysterious events that make you want to figure out the solution. I thought it was clever how the authors used details and events to make the teacher look like a vampire. In a way the classroom and kids seemed like they could be real, but the authors also included parts that were fun and imaginary.
I would recommend this book because you can have fun reading it. I think first to third grade kids would enjoy this book.

I like this book because it was funny in the beginning, and then it got weirder and weirder. I like the characters because they were funny and sometimes very serious. I would recomend this book to people who like scary and funny books.

My third graders are beginning to read more chapter books the first 9 weeks of school. I read "Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots" out loud to introduce them to the series. I already have 3-5 copies of the other titles waiting! This book was a very interesting book for them to listen to. They became interested in the characters right away. They bonded with the kids in the book and laughed at Eddie! They also liked how strange Mrs. Jeepers is. This is a great book for creating interest in the series and getting kids to read a chapter book. We have done summaries and story maps with the book.

Mrs. Jeepers is a new teacher. She has a green prouch. She has green eyes. She has a coffin in her basement.
The plot is about 5 students tring to find out is thier teacher a vampire. First, they searched her house a found the coffin. Then the 5 student found out that she loves halloween. Later Eddie gets in trouble and the eacher takes him outside. When Eddie came back he was pale. At the end they came to a conclusn that she wasn't a vampire.

I was in grade two when I saw a copy of this book on my teacher's desk. It was the first chaptered book I read and it is the one that sparked my love of reading. I am now 22 and still remember this book to this day. Wonderful series, wonderful characters and a brilliant read for any child.

Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is a funny, but scary book. I loved reading it with my mom. It was the first Bailey School Kid book that I read, and it was my favorite! I would be very scared to have a vampire teacher like Mrs. Jeepers, she's got the creepers.
I recommend this book to all different kinds of people, especially 7, 8 and 9 year olds. Start reading it today!
