5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Read!
Did the Publisher's Weekly reviewer who posted to Amazon even bother to read this book? I could not agree less with the PW review! This book is a wonderful read, full of mystery, suspense, and sexy, SEXY vampires! Add the gothic backdrop of Savannah, a character unto itself, and you've got the makings of one rolicking good page-turner. I found myself saying "OK, just...

3.0 out of 5 stars Weird Series Starter
William Cuyler Thorne is a suave and debonnaire vampire. Living in Savannah and passing himself off as the head of a tremendously wealthy family, William is not such a bad guy. He doesn't kill, not even the bad guys. All of his "swans" are willing victims and none of them die. In the scheme of vampire affairs, William is a pussycat compared to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, June 6, 2006
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is written from different peoples perspectives, which can be dangerous because the author risks loosing a train of thought or the reader's interest, but this book was amazing. Everything ties in together well and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. This book had blood, sex, laughter, and tears. With a little more tweaking it could be as good as the Anita Blake series.

He doesn't kill, not even the bad guys. All of his "swans" are willing victims and none of them die. In the scheme of vampire affairs, William is a pussycat compared to others.

But when William's rage-filled sire, Reedrek, rolls into Savannah and starts to murder William's staff and friends, William must pull on the dark force inside, the thing that makes him a monster. With the help of a little Voodoo and his pals, William and his gang may have a shot at stopping Reedrek before Reedrek kills William.

I picked this novel up on a whim. I was a little skeptical, but had high hopes. Now, after having read the novel, I am honestly not certain what I think. This plot line seems like an odd choice for what is clearly the beginning of a new series. It is kind of hard to care about a set of characters when you have just met them. And in order for this plot to work, the reader definitely had to care about them. I think the author should have held this plot back for a few books, give the readers a chance to get tangled up in the lives of these characters before using this storyline.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read" Tale, January 7, 2007
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
I am not a great fan of vampire tales. Yes, I saw the movie, Interview with the Vampire. Yes, I ogled Brad Pitt's handsome face and great bod. I also became attached to the cancelled Blade series on TV. Now that I've confessed that I'm occasionally tempted, I also confess that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. William and Jack and their supporting cast will keep you under their spell until the last page. I guarantee--you WILL buy the next book in this series. Prepare to be enthralled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soldier, Scholar, Wastrel, Womanizer, September 1, 2006
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
William Cuyler Thorne describes himself as having been a Soldier, Scholar, Wastrel, Womanizer. He adds that among the many other things he has been, the most important is that he has always been and remains "an unwavering killer of men. A predator."

From that dark opening, the book continues to creep into the mind and soul the way a true predator would. I found this book haunting, melodic, and fascinating. The story unfolds in Savannah Georgia. If you've never been there, read this book and you'll feel as if you've walked by the sea, felt the damp tangles of Spanish Moss brush your face as you strolled through the graveyards at midnight, smelled the decay of the old part of the city, and heard the crunch of gravel beneath the wheels of your Jag as you cruised about town.

There are two things that I generally don't read: Horror, and first person tales. The few exceptions I've made in my life have become favorites that I will always treasure. This book is one of them. Raven Hart has a rich, dark voice -- one I intend to listen to forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good addition-- but PLEASE lose the name!, May 8, 2006
By
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
I was looking around for a story that had some length to it so I took a flyer on this fairly new writer. I double-checked the price, because anyone who has so little respect for their audience as to put "Raven Hart" as the name of an horror novel writer just didn't give me much confidence. The novel has a good understanding of the typical vampire mythos and is deep in good supporting characters. The author chose to let each character write their own chapter which gives them center stage for their view of events. The struggle with that technique is the author is unable to give quality voice to so many characters and it slows down the tempo of the book significantly. Kinda fallls under the old writing rule--don't tell, show. SO if you have some time to ---kill--this is an OK addition to your vampire collection. It really is more of a horror novel than romance as many of the sensual scenes are handled in a confusing and clumsy fashion.

5.0 out of 5 stars exotic exciting thriller, March 29, 2006
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
He is a vampire over five hundred years old lives in Savannah and has all the wealth, power and women he wants. Life is good for William and Jack a vampire William created. Jack is one of the few beings he cares about partly because he made him and partly of his winning personality. They live together though Jack doesn't know much about being a vampire, his loyalty to William is unique and will be needed in the days ahead because William's sire, the truly evil Readrek who killed is wife and son, is coming for him.

William has been smuggling the young vampires who want to leave their masters out of Europe and Readrek has picked up his trail. William's sire is stronger and more powerful than his fledgling but the younger has other weapons, including the use of voodoo that makes it questionable what will happen when the final confrontation takes place. Readrek has his hooks in Jack by promising him the power that William denied him; it remains to be seen who Jack ultimately gives his loyalty to cause it might make a difference on the outcome.

Raven Hart humanizes William and Jack so that readers can empathize with them and their problems. Although William has a healthy sex life and lovers he cares about, his heart is buried with his wife and son killed by his enemy. The vampires in this book seem so very real, (including the villain) that readers will start to wonder if they actively exist. William and Jack have heart if not souls and they care about people both vampires and humans making them easy to like. THE VAMPIRE'S SEDUCTION is an exotic exciting thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Series!, December 6, 2008
By
This review is from: The Vampire's Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
William Cuyler Thorne, a refined old world vampire relocated to Savannah, has made a good life for himself smuggling vampires to the new world away from their evil sires in Europe. Fury has sustained him through the centuries more than human blood. He flirts with his death by the hand of "his Eleanor", a mortal woman that understands his secret desires.

Happy go lucky Jack McShane, the only vampire William has sired, works loyally at William's side. He's in the dark when it comes to his own power and the secrets William has kept hidden from him for years.

Suddenly, vamps end up dying and as Jack would say "all hell breaks loose."

This story has something for everyone, a healthy dose of vampiric humor, a touch of horror, shape-shifters, powerful voodo, sex and romance.

A great read and I can't wait to find out what happens next in the series. This is not your typical paranormal romance and I'm so glad I picked up this book!
