Book Description

May 11, 2010
Vampyre Kisses is an enthralling story about a young woman named Faith, who seems content with her life, but deep down craves more excitement. Then a mysterious man named Trent enters her world and everything changes. Surprising to Faith, Trent is a green-eyed vampire from Ireland. She is even more amazed to find out that she is a witch, and the last of her kind. Faith learns that she is destined to restore her witch line and becomes more powerful as she gains confidence and knowledge, but danger lurks everywhere -- especially when unknown assailants steal the most important gems from the vampire master and werewolf royalty. Now surrounded by a world filled with mystifying vampires and werewolves, can Faith gain enough power to help her friends and rescue the stolen gems? "A welcome addition to the vampire/werewolf corpus. Building on traditional legends, Kolodziej creates a world both vast in its sweep and compelling in its details." Stephen Delaney -- Writer, Teacher & Editor Elizabeth J Kolodziej, a young fiction writer originally from Torrance California, is a smart and original thinker who has researched the origins of vampires, werewolves, and witches for many years. She writes her books from the knowledge she has gained while trying to be as original and inspiring as possible. Her books encompass both true folklore facts along with innovative ideas motivated by the great writers around her. This book is her first, but not her last, in a new series entitled Vampyre Kisses.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The story engrossed me from the first page and didn't let go even at the end. The author painted pictures through the storyline that you could actually see in your mind's eye." - Reviewed by Ellen H. for Readers Favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! June 24, 2010
Format:Paperback
This wasn't another "boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy is a vampire" kind of blah story. Kolodziej created a mystical tale full of magic and mystery. It's a fascinating world, completely unique compared to the cookie cutout worlds most vampire authors use.

The best part, Vampyre Kisses isn't just a simple story; it's a whole new universe. A universe full of not only humans and vampires, but werewolves, gods, witches and more. Kolodziej certainly did her research; she mixes fiction with real historical facts and folklore perfectly. The story takes place in a vast and imaginative setting that any reader will be happy to get lost in. You'll instantly get sucked into Faith's new life as a witch, her budding relationships with vampire Trent and werewolf Z.T. and their epic quest to save the races.

Vampyre Kisses is the first installment of "The Last Witch" series. This is a YA series that is suitable for teens.

I was asked to be a part of a tour for Book 2 so I figured I'd better read Book 1 *teehee* At first I thought that I had gotten in over my head, I didn't think I was going to like the book at all and I hate to give a bad review and I WON'T do a bad review as part of a tour! But I really didn't want to back out since the Author seems to be a genuinely nice person :)

I'm really glad I stuck in there though :)

In the beginning of the book it didn't seem to go forward very much. The charachter perseption changes in each chapter but it seemed as though I read the same thing in Chapter two as I read in Chapter 1. Don't worry though this DOES CHANGE! After maybe the first 4 chapters I was really able to get into this book. I really enjoyed it from there on out. I know, I know...you have to have the information in the beginning though and a lot of REALLY good books are hard to get into in the beginning! Elizabeth did a GREAT job keeping my interest though.

Faith seems somewhat content with her life but feels there isn't enough excitement. She is tired of doing the same thing day in and day out. Faith doesn't know her true abilities until she meets the love of her life who introduces her to a trainer who shows her the most inportant things she needs to know about being a witch. The vampire race's Blood Gem has been stolen along with the werewolf' race's Moon Gem. It is up to Faith and all her friends to find the gems and return them to their rightful owners.

Faith and her friends overcome many obstacles including finding out that Faith's own mother is one of their biggest enemies and that Faith herself would have to fight her. The battle is short in the end but keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I am pleased with the way the book ended and can't wait to start Book 2

Recommended for anyone 13 or older.

I met Elizabeth J. Kolodziej at this year's Book Blogger Convention and while I didn't realize at first that she was a novelist, I was happily surprised when she told me about her book. I am grateful to her for loaning me her last physical copy (as I've mentioned before, I'm a little less than excited about ebooks.) I will be purchasing my own copy to add to my keeper shelves as I loved it so much the first time, I know I'll want to read it again and again.

And now, my review. I have to say I love strong female leads and this book definitely has that. It has a good solid love story at the base of it, but it is so much more. There are witches, werewolves, vampires, gods, and who knows what else will come in the next book. I can only imagine the hours of research she put into this book as there are ample references to folklore and mythology that is intricately woven into the story.

Some people may not like it, but I enjoyed how she spends the first couple of chapters going back and forth from Faith and Trent's perspectives at times overlapping to give you a more rounded view, but to also expand on the events as it effects each of them. I thought it added a little something extra to the story as it unfolds.

I found that the writing strongly conveyed the challenges and the accomplishments of Faith as she grows into her powers and accepts what she must do. Beautifully descriptive and yet it doesn't get lost in the descriptions, moving the story along at a good pace and leaving you wanting more.

I'm super excited that the next in The Last Witch series, Werewolf Descent, will be released as an ebook later this month and in print shortly thereafter.
