Editorial Reviews

Review

"Vampire fads come and go, emerging each decade in some new form, but for those for whom the vampiric mystique is a calling, the choices inspired become a life path. Vampyre Sanguinomicon offers a compelling and elegant presentation of the history, rituals, and customs of a specific spiritual movement. It has the quality of permanence, and it will likely make an enduring contribution to sanguinary lore." -Dr. Katherine Ramsland, author of The Science of Vampires and Piercing the Darkness

"The Sanguinomicon provides a unique and valid look at one of the oldest Vampyre traditions in the modern living vampire subculture. Full of rich descriptions and details of the past, it delves deep into the many aspects long whispered about in the shadows. Highly recommended." -Corvis Nocturnum, author of Allure of the Vampire

I've been studying the vampire archetype from a variety of perspectives for quite some time. "Sanguinomicon," in my opinion, is the best book of its genre. The prose is clear and accessible yet does not "talk down" to the reader and assumes an honest and intelligent interest in the subject. While the book may seem primarily geared towards the reader who wants to incorporate the vampire archetype into his/her personal paradigm, it is also an invaluable reference for the scholar or aficionado. Unlike some other books on the subject, "Sanguinomicon" approaches the subject of "living Vampyrism" from an intellectual, scientific, pragmatic, and realistic point of view. It offers practical applications as well as philosophy and rhetoric. It even incorporates vampire history, literature, and popular culture! Simply put, this book is a must-read and a valuable addition to any library.

This tome of the "Living Vampire" is a must have for both seeker and scholar alike. The author manages to explain the sophisticated philosophies and rituals of the Strigoi Vii in a clear and concise manner. The lexicon is also full of excellent and beneficial exercises to help the would be initiate along on their quest for becoming. The book also includes an interesting and eclectic suggested reading list to help further the students journey, as the path to Xeper can't begin and end with one book. I honestly can't recommend this book enough.

Eternally,

Frater A:.D:.

Hi all,
I'm a long time chaos shaman and I have an extensive library of everything from Feritrad to Hermetics to Huna and Chaos Magick, and I do own the Vampire Codex and have for some years. This book is a great addition for my library - not just to sit on a shelf, I find myself taking it down often.

Pros: Once you get through the dense language, most of it is common sense. At least three rules of the Black Veil are rules you;d find on a message board: Don't screw around with minors, don't commit crimes, don't drink blood (which goes with the second one since it often counts as assault anyway). This text has a strong focus on taking care of normal, everyday physical life first, and goes further than the cursory admonition in most texts. The inclusion of NLP techniques and the focus on transhumanism is refreshing and followed with practical application of theory. The formal 'Mass' is completely solid - I've had great results with it and highly suggest it - after the basics of course. No aerobics without warming up.

Cons - the language is dense, and very dramatic. Which makes sense since the archetype of the Vampire is being used as psychopomp - which I'm used to from other chaos paths - Grimoire Dehara from Storm Constantine is a prime example. Vampires are dramatic and charming and chivalrous - that's the fun! And most folks don a dramatic persona for ceremony. But this would have been a more enjoyable read if it were simpler. The "Red Veils" is much clearer and more organized, though far less extensive. I think there's a sequel coming out which might cover the remaining material with greater clarity - I plan on taking a look.

As for the Psychic Vampire Codex - its a great resource for energy manipulation - basics and advanced techniques.

Father Sebastiaan is guilty of stealing materials, not only from real vampires, but from role-playing games. He has admitted that he isn't a vampire, and that his only interest in the vampi(y)re community is our money.

This is a very Excellent book on the Spiritual philosophy of the living Vampyre. Father Sebastiaan goes into great detail on all of the Spiritual Paradigms and aspects that can be applied on our Spiritual journey towards the condition of Zephr ! He also goes into many other topics, on what living Vampyrism is, The Black Veil, Rituals, The Glamour, The Philosophy, Festivals, and also how a balance must be in order between your day and night side. I highly recommend this book, to anyone who is interested in learning about the Spiritual Philosophy of the living vampyre, and anyone who feels that they may be one, but don't know exactly what direction to turn to. This is a great guide and manual for anyone that is interesting in learning.

Namaste,
Azraelina Sahjaza

Set to type, a cohesive and logical understanding of a path and lifestyle so few grasp the meaning of. Father Sebastiaan takes you through a journey of various personal life experiences through which he explains the fundamental differences between the primary vampire types and the practices of "The Living Vampyre". Along with his other books, he empowers you to embrace who you are and allow you to live your true nature, should it be your path. Far from trying to establish a "Gothic Occultism", or a "following" so to speak, he encourages individuality, independence and strength of self, while offering guidance and insight. Not for everyone, especially those with close minded beliefs who do not allow others their own opinions.

Eternally,
Lily Rayne

This book caters to the spirituality and life-style of self-professed vampires, or should I spell it "vampyres"? The book is co-authored by Father Sebastian, a well-known face in the vampire community.

If you are a life-styler then you will probably enjoy this book. If you are simply fascinated with vampires and have a bit more knowledge or understanding of the vampire in folklore vs. the trendy Hollywood version, then you will probably not enjoy reading this book. I myself was put off by the both the title and the "religion" expounded upon in the book. The title itself seems to be based on the dreaded "Necromonicon" of H.P. Lovecraft fame. The so-called vampyric religion presented in the book is nothing more than a re-working of Wicca.
