Van Gogh - Starry Night Design Protective Decal Skin Sticker for Amazon Kindle 2 E-Book Reader (2nd Gen)

I purchased the Van Gogh Starry Night Protective Decal Skin Sticker for my Kindle 2 [it is only compatible with the Kindle 2, and not the Kindle 1]. It is described as a skin sticker, yet it offers reasonably good protection against stains [from holding the Kindle with one's hands], and from light wear. To further protect my Kindle 2, I also purchased the Amazon Kindle 2 leather cover which has offered much protection to it.

The Van Gogh Kindle Skin is beautiful and provides a measure of sophistication and light protection to an already sleek product. It is reasonably easy to apply - initially I did have some bubbles at the edges, but the skin is stretchy and I kept stretching it out at the edges to get all the bubbles out. It is also easily removable, and does not leave behind any sticky residue. Does the color of the gelskin sticker distract me from my reading? Well, it takes initial getting used to, and after that, I had no problems adjusting to it when I was reading.

All in all, this is a beautiful and practical way to protect one's Kindle 2, but I would also advise getting a cover to keep the Kindle in, such as the Amazon Kindle 2 leather cover [which I have and am happy with].

I like this skin, but it doesn't cover the sides of the Kindle 2 completely. You can still see a very slim white border on the front and a silver border on back. It still looks nice and provides surface protection like it should. I think I will get a different skin that has a white background once I get tired of this Van Gogh so as to have the bordered sides that aren't covered up blend in with the skin itself. Overall, this skin is worth $14.99, and it was fairly easy to apply and reapply with no sticky residue left on the Kindle 2 when it's lifted off again and again. I had to lift it off and stretch it just a little to get the keyboard holes lined up correctly, but the whole process only took me about 15 minutes for the front, back and button stickers.

One thing to note as well, this skin makes my screen appear darker, but I don't know if that is because it's so drastic from the white color of the Kindle or a reflection of the dark skin or what. It still has a nice contrast to the eInk screen and is readable without any problems...just the device itself is much darker to look at and takes a little adjusting to get used to.

The seller, mygift, sent this skin wrapped in plastic inside a sturdy cardboard sleeve/envelope with a stiff cardboard insert to keep it from getting bent in the mail. You can tell they care about their products. Recommended.

I love decals and covers for all of my stuff--not to mention I just love my stuff. These are so cute and take a very boring looking (but well loved) piece of electronics and make them cute and more original. Love them!!! I want them all!!! I only wish it was more like a cover so that I could just interchange instead of using then tossing!

This skin offers protection so that you won't be afraid to shuffle your kindle around on the table, but what I like most about it is I can grip it without fear of dropping it. With the skin I don't have to keep my kindle in its cover all the time. This is a must for all obsessive compulsive people.

Not much to say. It's beautiful, not hard to stick to the kindle or restick if necessary. I don't know about it being a protective decal since I keep my kindle in a leather case but it is decorative at least. If they really wanted it to be about protection, then maybe should add a clear screen protector as well (reason why I still use the leather case).

The Starry Night decal is not as nice as pictured. The decal is a millimeter or two short in each direction, leaving uncovered, glaring white edges around the screen and around the edge of the Kindle. It does not look very nice.

It was stated that it could be easily removed and replaced. When I tried to remove it to reposition it on my Kindle, it stretched and doesn't fit properly now.

I love this skin and it does its job well. This thin layer of art protects the most vulnerable parts of my Kindle with style and the quality of the print is fantastic.

This is a great product. It was extremely easy to put on and looks great.

I was a little disapointed by the fact that the stiker left an interior and exterior white frame on the front of the kindle. I haven't tried stretching it, but will do so, meanwhile I'm buying a different one with an essentially white backgroung so the contrast between the skin and the white plastic won't be so great.
