5.0 out of 5 stars Van Gogh: Vertigo of Light: In and of Itself A Work of Art, January 22, 2006

This review is from: Van Gogh: Vertigo of Light (Hardcover)
I found this glorious book on the shelf at the Cleveland Museum of Art a few years ago. The fluorescent green cover with its green and orange binding stood out from the average staid, muted colors of the books surrounding it.

Everything about Van Gogh: Vertigo of Light would have predicted I would never pick it up: Day-glo oranges, yellows, sunset reds and purples framing, ornamenting some of Vincent Van Gogh's most famous paintings -- Sacriledge!

Au contraire. Whereas most "Art Books" like most museums manage to suck the life out of the works they exhibit, Vertigo of Light brings Van Gogh's work to life.

Ms. Guillaud has created a work of art as well as a work of poetry in this book of carefully chosen reproductions of work of Vincent Van Gogh complemented by snippets of letters Vincent wrote to his brother Theo.
