Best Reed,

This review is from: Vandoren 56 Rue Lepic Bb Clarinet Reeds #3.5, Box of 10 (Electronics)
I have been playing the Clarinet for 9 years, this is the best reed I have found. It gives a great dark tone. A 3 size reed is to small for me, where a size 4 reed is almost to thick, the 3.5 is perfect for me. Vandoren 56 Rue Lepic Bb Clarinet Reeds, Strength 3.5 Box of 10

Great reeds. However they are very inconsistent. Order 10 and you get 2 great reeds 2 okay reeds and 6 crappy ones. I would recommend Rico Royal Reserve reeds.

These Reeds are great. They help make getting a wonderful tone much easier. Unfortunately for me I didn't need a whole set of 3.5 reeds but paying $32.10 for Vandoren 56's you easily get your money's worth. I went (As a Guinea Pig) to a Band Teacher Convention on teaching beginning clarinetists how to play 16th and 32nd notes as well as proper tonguing technique and last but not least reeds. This brand Vandoren came highly recommended by the person presenting and they also said that they start students out with 2.5 and then move them up directly to 3.5 reed strength(Help the student with proper breathing). I have used this brand for 2 or 3 years now and highly recommend it to anyone that has been playing more than a year on Rico Reeds I wouldn't buy these for a student that might drop the instrument after a year as they are more expensive. I find that with this strength you can get 3 full octaves plus a few notes above High C easily, and then pound out a couple more above that.

The reeds were for my daughter. I cannot actually comment on the reeds She likes them and they were recommended by her tutor, so I am sure they are good. I was only responsible for buying them.... which I was able to mess up. I order from Musician's Friend. When I opened the package, something did not seem right. I asked my daughter what strength she needed. Yep these where the wrong ones. I got right to work to see how Amazon or Musician's Friend messed up my order. It did not take long to figure out I was the one who dropped the ball on this one. I sent an email to Musician's Friends. I got back a prompt response and a very generous resolution to my mistake. Thanks Musician's Friend!! Great customer service.

My daughter was getiing more selective as she advanced on her clarinet, (this is her 2nd year playing it)so the Reeds that she found on our local music store didn't satified her, even thought they were Vandoren. I bought this type after reading the reviews and she just love them, she gets more "good reed" out of the box than before. I relly recommend this Reeds.

Pretty good reeds, many duds,

Compared to normal Vandoren reeds, these are much better and less of them are duds. Unfortunately, though, about 3 out of every box don't work. These are supposedly tested by professionals, so I don't see how this could still happen! The company is very bad about dud reeds.
