Living in Seattle I had an opportunity to lay hands on at least 15 tampers, and none felt as good as the one my friend had, which turns out to be this Vaneli.

Tamper is the heaviest I've used, and the end is nicely rounded so I have no problem pressing my full weight into it. Finish is like a mirror, the photo above shows it well. Tamper base is flat, size fits my expobar brewtus with <0.5mm on each side. Base is mirror polished, so you don't disturb the tamp by rotating the tamper.

Fit is so close that there's no room to tamp uncentered. Sides of base are the right depth that when I've got my proportions right the top of the tamper matches the top of the portafilter, so no more overfills.

Great feeling on a cold morning to pick this tamper up after its been sitting on the machine all night, its got huge thermal mass and radiates heat.

Using it is like applying one of those huge old venetian stamps the medici's were famous for.

I've no regrets, this is the tamper I was looking for. Glad my friend had one to show me. A coffee loving friend was skeptical when I told him I'd purchased a tamper he'd never heard of, but was raving about it when he left.

Description above says 23oz, thats a lot for such a small object. You could definately kill someone with it.

I bought a KitchenAid Pro Line Espresso machine from Amazon at a great price. I love the machine, but in the box was the dinky $2 plastic undersized tamper. I had to trash it and buy a real tamper. The Vaneli's tamper is very solid (23 oz.), nicely finished and has a great balance to it, providing very level, even tamps. I like the fact that it's all stainless, no hardwood handles to split or break. Do yourself a favor, drop all other tampers and get this one. You won't be disappointed. Later!

Quality and workmanship are second to none. This tamp works perfectly with my Gaggia Classic. Talk about feel-good quality. This 1-piece tamp makes Reg Barbers look feeble in comparison for 1/2 the price.

This tamp was just what I was looking for. heavy, smooth, nice round surface to press the palm of your hand on. I looked on many websites and tamps of this sort were very expensive. This was the best price I could find. We are very pleased with it.

This product is one of the most important items I use in the making of espresso. Once you use one, and replace the cheap, plastic version that comes with your espresso machine, you will know you made the right choice. A little pricey, but it is well worth it.

I can not imagine a better tamper. Heavy, solid, all one piece so you don't have to mess with the handle coming loose. I wanted to buy only ONE tamper in my life and it looks like this is it.

This tamper is solid stainless (no screw-together pieces). It came in perfect condition, well-packed and on-time. It is the perfect fit for the KitchenAid Proline espresso maker KTA-KPES100PM. It is damn hard to find the exact stated size of the little bucket thing the coffee goes in. This thing is wayyyy better than the lame plastic tamp that comes in the box - improved the consistency of the pour, or draw, or however espresso fanatics refer to getting the coffee out.

Got this for my Gaggia Coffee. Pretty, heavy, fits great -- just quality all around. Got some 58mm la marzocco baskets and this fits those too. Simply great

Speedy delivery. This thing must weigh a pound. Does an excellent job of tamping coffee. Should be easy to produce consistant tamps. Highly recommend.
