An oft neglected subject by todays church, E-vangelism is here to stay, and Andrew Careaga gives a very good starting point for todays church to again become relevant.

Perhaps the greatest battle the modern Christian faces is apathy. In the pages of this book, we find that their is a real "subculture" out there. If we are to become true "minister of the Gospel" we must take advantage of every mass communication tool possible.

The Internet, while surely not being the last frontier is certainly the latest and greatest opportunity we have.

Offering practical advice for anyone seeking to be a true ambassador for Christ on the Internet; E-vangelism: Sharing The Gospel Through Cyberspace , is a must read for the serious Christian in todays modern world.

This is an important"how to" manual for novice and experienced web users for sharing the good news of Christ via hyperspace.In all probability,we will see more advances in technology in the next few months than we have seen in the past 10 years.

It is very important for Christians to have the knowledge to be able to use this electronic medium to reach the lost and Andrew Careaga has written a comprehensive guide to do just that.Highly recommended reading. Learn how to be in search mode while talking in chat rooms, posting on message boards and writing e-mail. Andrew has listed the witnessing tools and tips you will need online. We have been waiting a long time for this book - the first printed publication purely about using the Internet to share the Gospel. It was worth the wait.

Careaga offers a book which is very understandable to someone not yet online (and technical terms, when used, are defined clearly). Yet there is much to help the experienced web user.

He begins with an introduction to the Web, showing how it is impacting today's world, and the church's response. Advice is offered on how to start online.

A valuable section on using chat rooms and email for personal witness gives warnings of the many pitfalls to avoid. Very encouraging are specific instances of people being touched through this method.

The use of evangelistic web-sites is discussed, again with many illustrations. Careaga highlights the importance of creating sites which are designed to be evangelistic, rather than just hoping non-Christians may happen to find a site which is primarily written for Christians. He explains the key to this - pages which are about subjects that non-Christians are looking for online. The importance of titles and meta descriptions are also detailed, and how to promote web-pages on Search Engines or in other ways.

This is a vital book. Whether or not you are already online, it shows how to have an effective worldwide ministry from home. Never again need someone lack opportunity for witness. The housebound, the disabled, the retired, the young; churches, organizations or individuals - all Christians have a new way of reaching the world for Christ. May this book encourage thousands more to see the opportunities and get started. If you have a church bookstall, this book should be on it.

As one who has written an online Guide to Web Evangelism with a similar agenda, I warmly recommend it.

I could sit here and type endless reasons as to why one who is praying, thinking, or will enter into the E-vangelsim ministry, should buy this book, but I won't. Andrew Careaga has written a truly masterful book about a very new medium of evangelsim. Get it, read it, and praise God for the great things that can be done through the web!

E-vangelism is an awesome book that reveals everything that God would want other Christian Internet users to know. The book is written in such a way that it will be highly appealing to both the casual Christian Internet user and the seasoned Internet e-vangelist alike.

Brother Careaga's book is packed full of useful and powerful information for all aspects of Internet Evangelism in response to Jesus' command "... I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19 (NIV). You will find information such as:

-- how to size up the fishing rod (the computer and Internet connection)

-- where to find the best fishing spots (chat rooms, E-mail, etc.)

-- and even which type of bait to use (methods of witnessing over the Internet).

E-vangelism is essential to any Christian that currently uses or plans to use the Internet for any reason. You never know when God is going to put you in touch with someone who needs to hear the Good News. This book will prepare you for that encounter.

Ninety years ago, a movement called Fundamentalism took place in the United States; it was a religious response to the industrial revolution and the social changes that take place in growing cities and changing society. To be sure, the technological revolution has spawned similar reactions, but some people are finding it useful to embrace technology. Andrew Careaga is one of those people. Careaga1s book is called E-vangelism: Sharing the Gospel in Cyberspace. It is a book designed to take either the Christian computer neophyte or the veteran computer crusader into the world of cyberspace to spread the word. Careaga, a graduate of the University of Missouri--Columbia journalism school, employs a style that makes the book valuable for the beginning evangelist or seasoned veteran. Because the 161-paged text avoids being overly specific in its technological advice, you do not need to worry about it being out of date within the next year as with other books about computers. Instead, it focuses, for the benefit of the newbie, on the differences, advantages and uses of newsgroups, mailing lists, chat rooms, and e-mail. The book even has a short glossary of terms to help along the prospective evangelist. Even though the book was written for an audience new to the technological revolution, it is also useful for veteran computer users. Careaga points out that if you want to minister on the web, there are certain tactics (manners) to follow, and that most churches are underestimating and underusing one of the most powerful tools available. Careaga writes on the advantages of the web in nurturing a relationship and converting friends rather than people. My favorite sections of the book are those in which Careaga cites specific examples of how e-vangelism worked in converting non-believers. It is in these sections that Careaga1s reporting skills shine, making this book different from others on similar topics. In other words, the book is written by someone who is a writer/e-vangelist rather than an e-vangelist who thinks he can write. I must admit that I am not in this book1s target audience: I have very limited access to the web and I do not feel the call to be an evangelist. But this book is well-written, easy to understand and short enough to be a useful handbook. A recommended buy.
