Product Description

Size: Alta+ 234AP

The Vanguard Alta+ 234AP Tripod is designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding photographer. This aluminum tripod offers a magnesium alloy canopy and head. The legs can all be adjusted individually to 3 different angles (25° 50° 80°) for uneven terrain and low angle shooting. The dual locking safety mechanism and anti-shock ring prevent the damage that can be caused by camera vibration and will eliminate any worries you might have about your equipment falling from the tripod during transportation. Ergonomic handles, an easy to lock panhead, large foam grips for all weather use and spiked rubber feet for increased stability are all features offered by this series.

The construction is good and appears to be of good quality material.

Like you can adjust tripod legs even wider, almost horizontal so that the camera is very low.

Never have I spent this much money on a tripod, but I will never regret it.

I purchased this today after testing it at BH Photo (the top AV store in New York City). I also tested its somewhat in-class competitor, the Manfrotto carbon fiber model. Guess what? The carbon fiber is about the same weight with a head as this, and it costs $200 for the legs alone. You must buy the head separately. Anyhow, let me talk about this tripod.

First, it has a FLUID HEAD. The box itself fails to mention that. The head moves so fluidly and although it says photo tripod on the box, I use it for video with my Canon HD camera. WOW, this is an amazing tripod. Second, it has two axes (handlebars?) of controls, one for each hand. This allows for more precise motion. Third, it has a built in level. How useful! Fourth, it is lightweight, comes with a FREE tripod bag inside the box! Fifth, it is quite small so you can stow it away. Sixth, it is the BEST price to value ratio you will ever find on a tripod. I spent about 4 hours at BH Photo researching all the latest tripods that are fairly portable, light, and are professional quality.

I make YouTube videos (my username is "scir91" - see some videos using this tripod) and when motion is required, you can see that there is no jerk from point A to point B. It's a totally smooth/fluid motion.

THIS TRIPOD IS PRO QUALITY. FLUID HEAD and LEVEL with THREE AXES OF MOTION (up, down, diagonal)!

Vanguard Alta+ 204AP has perfect material and workmanship and it has a lot of useful functions which you cannot find in many other tripods. Like you can adjust tripod legs even wider, almost horizontal so that the camera is very low. You can attach camera to the bottom of tripod and take close-up macro shots on floor on this position.
It gives a great pleasure to use it when shooting photos or using binoculars. Very stable and durable.
I highly recommend this product. I bought two from Adorama Camera and they shipped very fast.

I had used a lesser tripod prior to buying my first Nikon, and attempted to continue using it with my D40, but was always cautious about circumstances. The first time I sat my D90 in it, I immediately took it right back out, as I had the feeling my camera would be on the ground, lens first.

I looked around and finally happened upon this Vanguard and bought it, and am I ever glad I did.

4 section legs, anchoring pins in the ends of the legs if needed, a single quick release if raising the neck is necessary, and the head is quickly, and easily adjusted. an added feature is a one button quick release if shooting ground level macro, as the legs will extend outward to allow the camera to remain mounted at ground level. I couldn't be happier with my selection.

The 3-Way Panhead is very smooth, and easy to use and assemble. I was expecting a little more sturdiness in the legs for the price. Not much difference in stability between this and a $30+ tripod. Tripod at its full extension stands approx 5 feet. Nice carrying bag. I needed an affordable semi-professional grade tripod with that won't shake and tremble, in my opinion this is not it, but will have to do for now.

This is my first tripod and i went with the panhead mount which has excellent panning motion without any jerks and tumbles. I used it with both my T3i and my Sony HDR PJ710. The tripod is relatively light and is very easy to carry with you. I took it overseas on my trip and it fit in my 27" suitcase without any issues. It comes with its own bag and the the whole build quality is excellent. The built in levels are useful to balance your mount and you can do macro photography too(not sure if this is ideal but at least it can be configured that way). Definitely a great investment for an amateur photographer like me who can keep using it for a very long time.

I've had this now for about 1 year, I use it with my Pentax K5, it works well, very stable and easy to carry with me when traveling (fits in my suitcase). Also customer service is great! I was missing a handle when I recieved this, and with out any questions I was able to order a new one, sent to me for free. I'm a happy customer.

im not a pro, so this tripod is just right. still i wish that it is a little more portable, and that legs are a little sturdier.

A great relation between estability, weight, good construction versus price. The bag is a plus. A great tripod to have if you are an enthusiast photographer
