4.0 out of 5 stars Decent memory card case
It's unfortunate that the manufacturer's name for this product is "Di-Holder" and not "Memory Card Case", especially since the latter is written on it. It's made of aluminum not High-Impact plastic (I can't believe I fell for that one.) I would rather have had the plastic.

The cheap aluminum shows fingerprints and dirt relentlessly. In a couple of weeks it will look terrible. It is also very slick with no real edges or grip points making it hard to open especially if it jams shut.

It's unfortunate that the manufacturer's name for this product is "Di-Holder" and not "Memory Card Case", especially since the latter is written on it. The product didn't turn up in my initial searches of Amazon. I finally stumbled upon it on some other web sites, then came back here to search for the exact name.

At this time there are several versions on Amazon, but the basic "Technical details" are mostly incorrect, you must look at the "See more technical details" to tell which shape of memory card is supported and how many. I bought the version which holds 8 SD cards. A molded rubbery insert holds the cards in place within the case. The cards were held securely but easily removed.

Warning: the card holder inserts fell right out, repeatedly. Be prepared to glue them into the aluminum shell. A little "shoe goo" along the edges worked for me.

Other than that minor problem, I'm happy with the case for the $9 price tag. I just wanted a case to hold some SD cards to go with the digital picture frame we gave our mother, rather than have a bunch of cards lying around in their individual cases. And I didn't want a bending plastic hinge that would eventually break apart, so the aluminum version seemed like a better choice to buy unseen.

Yes a moderate amount of pressure or a drop from 3 feet onto carpet will cause the thin aluminum to mis-align and jam shut. There is NO clasp to prevent jams. Only spring pressure to keep the clamshell closed.

DOES NOT HOLD SD CARDS IN PLACE
Worst of all multiple test drops from as low as ONE-FOOT onto carpet resulted in 2 to 3 of the four cards on top to pop out and slide around loose in the case. No hard use here, slip the case in your pants pocket, walk down the street or go up and down the stairs two or three times and you will have three or more cards loose and falling out if you don't open it carefully.

IN CONCLUSION:
If I had wanted a box where 9 times out of 10 most of the cards would be bouncing around loose I would have purchased a cheap plastic case for .50 cents at the dollar store. --- Anybody want to buy mine, I'll sell it cheap. ;-)

3.0 out of 5 stars Its just OK., December 21, 2008
The case is exactly like it shows and describes. Its hard to protect your disks from crushing. However, it is too heavy duty for its purpose unless you are really rough on things or you need the heft to remind you of its presence. It doen't hold the disks very tight either. One or two are always floating free every time I open it. Got a good deal on the price so I'm ok with it.

It just works. Perhaps if the hold cups were a little deeper to give a firmer hold but otherwise I love it. No problems what so ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vanguard Aluminum Di-Holder SD Case, February 21, 2009

This case is conveniently sized for 8 SD cards, is of sturdy construction and the SD cards do not fall out like some reviews I read claimed. It is an excellent choice and makes your SD cards more accessible than those individual plastic cases which when you buy 8 will total much more than the price of this case.

Seems to work OK. Not waterproof or airtight by any means, so I may put a strip around the seams when considering long-term storage.

What more would you want than a case that holds your SD cards securely and is convenient to use? I've had a couple of other cases where the cards either wouldn't stay put or the case latch was so secure you couldn't open it while driving. This one works well for me. 5 stars.

It hold 8 memory cards; the case stays shut; it can take a pretty substantial fall and still keep the memory cards safe. A good product.
