I bought this desk mount for the 19" LCD monitor I just bought. I did my research on desk mounts and I'm pleased with my choice.

It is solid metal, well made, every joint is adjustable..side to side and up and down. At the lowest point it holds the bottom of my monitor 1 1/2" above the desk top. I'm short, so I wanted something to let the screen sit low. I also wear bifocal glasses.. so having a lower screen means not having to kink my neck back to see through the bifocal part of my glasses.

Vanguard includes 4 sets of different sized screws to attach the Vesa mount to the monitor. I had no problems figuring out which size screws to use for my monitor.

The arms have plates to run the cords in the bottom of the arms and hold them secure. No plastic clip ons, although they provide a few plastic cinch ties, of which I didn't need. You'll need a very small phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the plates and reattach them. A "glasses" screw driver will work very nicely. I suggest mounting the cords in the arm, before attaching the mount to your monitor/TV.. those tiny screws could fall inside the Monitor.

The mounting head swivels up and down, while the joint just behind the mount swivels side to side. All the joints allow you to swing your monitor out of the way and adjust it further back or closer with nice tight joints. Once it's in place, it stays there, until you move it. No vibration from typing either! It's solid. There is also a screw on the mount to adjust the tilt of your monitor. Untighten to adjust, retighten to keep it snug.

It comes with a second mounting screw to place through your desktop, but the hand tightening over-the-edge clamp is big enough to be as secure as you'd want it. If you were mounting a heavier monitor or TV, you would probably need the extra secure screw hole on the top of the base that would screw into the top surface of your desk.

All in all, it's an excellent product and worth the price.

The Vanguard VM-842C monitor mount works great. The construction of the product is very good. It is thick cast metal that is very sturdy. All of the pivot points work smoothly. In the short time I've had the stand, I've used it with a 15" standard LCD flat panel & 18.5" widescreen LCD flat panel and it worked great with both monitors.

Installation and assembly was extremely easy.

Fully extended the monitor projects out approximately 19.25" from the back edge of the desk that the stand is mounted on. If I push it in as far as I can the monitor is approximately 14.5" from the back edge of the desk.

Great product and I would definitely recommend it.

I'm very impressed with this product. For the price, you can't go wrong ($40 on sale for me). The construction is solid, it comes with 16 different screws (4 types x 4 each), so it will fit virtually any VESA 75 or VESA 100 monitor out-of-the-box. The clamp mount is stable and has a retaining screw that is optional but highly recommended. I'm actually pushing the limits of this stand with a 26" monitor (25.5" viewable) that is VESA 100 but still within the 18 pound weight limit.

A couple very small issues -- at the high end of the weight scale, the tilt adjustment seems very loose and tends downward (contrast to the one-star review that says it's too tight!). Clearly, it needs to have tension adjustment. As long as it holds though, it's ok.

The other issue is that the arm does not fold up very compactly. It only folds to a 90-degree angle at each joint, so the difference between completely extended and folded isn't that great. I have a standard 30" deep desk, and the stand puts the monitor a minimum of 16.5" in your face. That puts this 25.5" beast about 13" from my face, which is a little bit like an IMAX experience. I could very easily put the monitor farther back on my desk using the stand it came with. Actually wish you could take a link out of it... which I might actually try but would probably need a jackhammer for this stand. Very well built... just bigger and longer than I expected.

Perhaps take that 10" to 20" size recommendation seriously, if not for the weight, then because a larger monitor will be too close unless you have a VERY deep desk.

I was looking for a way to mount my laptop so it swung over my recliner and returned out of the way so I could get up easily and this product has worked very well in that task. I am enjoying the product and have stopped looking for a way to accomplish that.

good monitor arm. i don't have to drill it into my desk to hold a 17 inch monitor. The only reason why it doesn't get a 5 from me is because the packaging missed some parts. i.e screws. I had to reuse the old ones to put my monitor on.

On the unit I received, the down- tilt adjustment is too stiff to be practical, and there is no adjustment to the stiffness. (Loosening the screws on this bearing does nothing but allow one to remove the covering plastic disks.)

It is supposed to be possible to turn the monitor on the mount, but this bearing is so tight that this is impossible; and I could not loosen the Allen bolt on this bearing without placing the mount in a vise, which I did not wish to do and risk damaging the mount.

I am returning it to Amazon. Too bad, and inexcusable, that I could not use the mount due to such minor details.

When I first started shopping for a monitor mount most of the reviews I read mentioned the fact that other similar mounts were constructed very poorly. So much so the the mounts were weak at the joints and became totally useless to the buyer. This product however is not in that category at all. This is a solidly well constructed monitor mount with no weakness whatsoever. In fact it is the strongest monitor mount I have ever personally seen. Both my father and my brother purchased monitor arms and both hate them because of their poor construction. This arm is worth every penny. It is built to withstand an earthquake...probably, and is strong in every joint yet flexible enough to allow you to position your monitor in any place or position you desire. Because the monitor is very much on sale from Amazon it is a steal at this price! Anyway, buy it!

My only complaint...I wish the height could be raised just a little bit. The black also matched my black monitor, not necessary but nice.

The mount works great. It is quite heavy and stiff, but the entire arm swings in and out easily, which is what I needed. It also has the ability to position the monitor very high, the bottom of my monitor is about a foot above my desk. The cable mounting system is a set of zip ties, my monitor is large enough that i dont see the wires much at all. My desk is now completely empty except for a wireless mouse/keyboard, no more books with a monitor stand taking up half the space.

Bottom Line: SUPERB VALUE.

this arm is just as discribed - I use it to swing my computer screen in place while I am in my recliner. It has many adjustments to allow it to get into just the right angle. It stays in place exactly as positioned.

This is a high quality monitor mount arm. It's easily adjustable, and lets you rotate your monitor. It frees up room on my desk. Easy to install, is solid, and looks great! I'd recommend this to anyone.
