Good for Rosacea,
By
This review is from: Vanicream Sunscreen SPF 35 - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
I have rosacea and since I burn easily I need a sunscreen. EVERYTHING makes me breakout or burned my skin. I had a basal cell removed from my face a few years ago so I really need sunscreen. This is the ONLY product that works wtihout any burning or breakouts. It goes on thick and you look like a clown at first, but it is easy to rub in and quickly goes away. I have tried many of the sensitive skin sunscreens and this is the BEST by far. I highly recommend it. It is also very moisturizing.

It worked for my daughter,

My daughter (3) has fairly sensitive skin and some types of sunscreen cause a relatively mild reaction (her skin reddens for about one day). I have used four tubes of Vanicream on her without any sign of a reaction, so I am happy with the product. However, note that there is a difference between the "Sport" 35 SPF and the "regular" 35 SPF varieties. The former contains 7.5% octinoxate, the latter 3% titanium dioxide, with all other ingredients being the same. As of today, Amazon appears to be selling only the "Sport" variety (the one with octinoxate) which I bought without realizing it has different ingredients. I have used the "regular" variety in the past, but the "sport" variety seems to work just as well.

Best sunscreen I've had,
By
This review is from: Vanicream Sunscreen SPF 35 - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
Having developed brown patches on my face from a Neutrogena dry-touch sunscreen, I decided to do some research and buy skin-friendly and environment friendly product. Vanicream SPF 35 did a great job in protecting my fair complexion during a week of hiking in sunny weather high up the foothills of Mt.Rainier, WA. I still tanned slowly over time in a glowing smooth fasion. i would highly recommend this sunscreen.

Best sun product,

This review is from: Vanicream Sunscreen SPF 35 - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
Because of toxin issues, my doctor recommended to find a high spf value with mostly Zinc oxide as the sunscreen. This product was recommended . It does also have Octinate for a sun block. I could only find this recipe on line, here.

good sunscreen,

I have very sensitive skin that's calm and clear if I'm careful about what I put on it. This product did not irritate my skin, cause an acne breakout or leave an oily film on my face, but I could not get it to fade completely. It only leaves a subtle cast so if you have very fair skin you maybe able to use this product. Its a five star product for someone with fair normal/oily skin because its super gentle and non-greasy, but I'm giving it four stars because i couldn't get it to blend in.

good but expensive,

I started using this product because my child has allergies. I became aware of the various dyes and chemicals used in regular sunblock. Only issue is this is very expensive product. A 4 oz tube costs $11. They should just make all sunscreens free of dyes and parabensfor the safety of human health, and make them available to the common people at a reasonable price.

Based on my dermatologist's recommendation, I purchased Vanicream Sport with the hopes it would allow me to wear sunblock without making my face break out. While it seems to work great for other reviewers, I didn't have the same luck. My face still broke out after I used it, about the same as if I used Eucerin or Neutrogena. It didn't cause a burning, stinging sensation like chemical sunblocks, but it didn't wash away cleanly and I ended up with pimples from that. Maybe I should have tried the version that is not water-proof, but reviewers said it was too greasy, so I went with the "sport" version.I would say it's still worth a try to anyone with problem skin, but it may not work for everyone.

The Vanicream Sunscreen Sport was recommended to me by my doc. I've been thru many surgeries with him for Basel cell. So I know I need something with superior protection. Bottom line, you can't beat zinc oxide as a physical sun barrier. The EWG (Environmental Working Group) rated this in their top 10 suncreens out of over 700-800 reviewed.([...]). (Fanastic site BTW, for general education about UV rays, SPF, suncreen ingredients, what makes suncreens effective, and ranking sunscreens on both hazard index and effectiveness index.) Note the Vanicream Sport is a little different (and with a little better protection) than the Vanicream sunscreen SPF 35 which has titanium dioxide as it's other ingredient. T.D. is a weaker physical sunscreen than zinc. Overall I love this suncreen. It takes a bit more work to rub in at first, but it does rub right in, and it disappears into a light, clear coverage, that I hardly notice that it's on. It also has vitamin E. Our family uses it on our face because it doesn't seem to burn our eyes when swimming and rubs in to a light, non-greasy film. A good moisturizer as well. Overall, a fantastic sunscreen and I highly recommend it.

It probably works fine, but I don't like how it feels on my skin. Can't wait to wash it off at the end of the day.

The only thing I do not like about this sunscreen is applying it. It is as thick as toothpaste. But, it works SOOO much better than other sunscreens I have tried, and it stays on much longer. No need to apply every 2 hours like the over the counter stuff. It is worth the extra time it takes to apply it!
