I bought this album several years after "Somewhere Down The Road", knowing well that it was an earlier recording and was a jazz effort and not pop; still, while it has an intimate feel and is an enjoyable listening experience (not far removed in style from "Talk Memphis To Me", a much more successful collection) - its title track is infectious and playful - Cybill's voice isn't quite a match for the musicians, who occasionally overwhelm her, though the spirit is certainly there. Too, once in a while she hits some notes (the final cut, "A Foggy Day", and its last notes, leap to mind) that are, at best, flat; at worst, uncomfortable. The problem is that, at the time, her voice simply hadn't matured enough for the material. Still, it's a worthwhile collection and certainly isn't an embarassment, which is more than could be said for her first, "Cybill Does It...To Cole Porter", produced and featuring vocals by then-lover, director Peter Bodgdanovich. My advice: buy "Somewhere Down The Road" or "Talk Memphis To Me" or the "Cybill" soundtrack and then purchase this.

Mizz Shepherds warm vibrato made my spine tingle almost as muchas the cold February night. mmm smores. It all started when Iplopped in the CD and "Ain't Misbehavin'" came on and it totally kicked the trip into high gear. Time stood still with Cybill, hovering above the good ol' VW bus. Moonlighting was my favorite musical of the 80's, I do believe it was a conspiracy to cancel it.

Nothing makes me feel summer in my vanes like the hit title track "Vanilla." Especially when she lists off all of the ice cream flavors and her silly predicament with the ice cream man. I have found that a particular note in the song "Vanilla" contains one of the single most unsustained musical notes ever performed by a television actress/diva performer in the history.

Heard Ms. Shepherd beltout most of these songs in 1979 in a small Greenwich Village night spot! She had the audience in the palm of her hand as she sang in an evening gown and SNEAKERS! Get lost in "Vanilla"! A very seductive and classy CD!

This CD dates back from 1979...with a nice band accompaniment you hear a young Cybill belt out some jazzy laid back versions of classic songs from days gone by ! Relax and chill out to Cybill is exactly what you'll wanna do with this softly playing in the background.

This is a very agitated Cd,that will keep you dancin' from the begining till the end!Is not the best Jazz Cd but is sure one of the greatest!Cybill with her very tecnical voice involves you and call u to dance.For those who likes Jazz,this Cd worth it.
