An excellent book, and very surprising, May 20, 2000
By A Customer
The Vanished is the 7th Roswell high book, and you may thinkthat Melinda Metz, has run out of ideas, however, this book provesthat she is an excellent writer. In the story, Alex, is trapped on the aliens' (Max, Isabel, Micheal,Adam)home planet. Max is spending a lot of time and effort to save him. They are also trying to find the space ship, that was left in the warehouse. This book was so suspenseful and exciting that it took about an hour to read. I recommend it for true Roswell fans, and I think you will find it another excellent creation by Melinda Metz.

Highly reccomended., May 3, 2000
The Vanished was another great book in the Roswell High series. I personally enjoy the books more than the TV show. Anyway, in this book, the group must help Alex, who is on the alien planet, return home to Earth. But DuPris, the evil alien, is trying to stop them. A must-read if you like science fiction stories.

Has some interesting bits in it, March 20, 2006
Cameron has left town, Michael has found that Ray (the friendly alien)left him the ownership of the museum in his will so he's got a place of his own now.
The gang does some investigation of DuPris' office and discovers a photograph of Alex's father with Valenti showing that he's also in Clean Slate (which Isabel later confirms by finding related files on Mr. Manes latop when she visits Mrs. Manes). They make an effort to recover the ship form the Clean Slate ruins but must flee when they see someone coming, later it's gone.
It isn't really explained but Maria is inspired to suggest that DuPris may have hidden the ship in Carlsbad Caverns (she gets the idea from a tourist's T shirt), Meanwhile Max gets mixed signals from the consciousness about Alex (he's afraid, some are curious about him, some want him dead).
During their trip to the Caverns the teens do find the ship hidden in the cave and run into a chemical weapon trap set by Mr. Manes, deadly to aliens- Liz and Maria must drag their friends to safety. They have a confrontation with DuPris, discovering that Mr. Manes isn't an enemy as he is able to save them with more gas after being trapped in the ship with them. DuPris teleports the ship away and an attempt by Mr. Manes to bring Alex home using a Clean Slate device that absorbed Stone energy fails, not enough power.
I found a couple of aggravating flaws in this story, Mr. Manes starts to tell them that Clean Slate wasn't what they thought it was, that line is never finished. The energy device is never explained either.
