Book Description

Last on Earth October 1, 1998
Twenty-five high school seniors emerge from their basement geometry class to an eerie silence in a deserted school. Outside, empty buildings, stores, restaurants, and abandoned cars line Manhattan's once crowded streets. There is no sign of people. Phone calls to distant cities and messages sent on the Internet bring no response. TV channels show empty newsrooms. Human life has disappeared from the entire planet, sparing only twenty-five teens. Stunned disbelief is followed by alarm, curiosity, sorrow...and the horrifying realization that, for better or worse, they have inherited the Earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thrilling science fiction novel., May 28, 2000
This review is from: The Vanishing (Last on Earth, Book 1) (Paperback)
Twenty five teenagers at an overcrowded New York City school have a basement classroom. One day, they emerge to find that everyone else in the city, and possibly the Earth, has vanished from site, leaving no clues as to where they could have gone. Now it's up to the teenagers to discover where everyone else has gone before the same fate befalls them. This was an edge-of-your seat science fiction thriller with a realistic view of what might happen if just a few teenagers and no one else was left on Earth. Unfortunatley, the last book in the series was a dissapointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best triligy that I have ever read. There great., July 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Vanishing (Last on Earth, Book 1) (Paperback)
I read this whole triligy in 6 days, and I HATE to read. But with these books I just couldn't put them down. They were interesting and they kept me wondering the whole time. The people in these books are easy to relate to because they do the type of things that most of us would do in the same situation. It's almost every person's fanticy to be the last on earth and be able to have anything or do anything in the world. So in a way I got to live through this book. I mean, I told my friends at school about these books and 4 of them went to the store and bought the first book and now their asking me to barrow the other two. These books are really great.

4.0 out of 5 stars WHAT REALLY GOES ON IN THE MINDS OF TEENAGERS?, January 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Vanishing (Last on Earth, Book 1) (Paperback)
Last on earth is definitely one of the best sci-fi book series ever. It's very involving. The characters all have thier own unique personalities and really resemble actual 90's teens. Any teenager, like myself, with fall in love with these people, and once you finish the series, you'll wish there was more. I personally missed everyone of the characters. You know, it's like I knew them personally. Part 1 takes a little time to get into though. Namely about 4 or 5 chapters. Once the kids start to make the discoveries on what really happened, that's when things start to kick in. Another thing I really loved is the emotion behind the characters. Like the way the former unsociable jake fell in love with the model, Ashley. then there's Alex and Shalini. A russian tough ass and a shy, sweet indian girl. And how about Cameron, the computer wiz, aka, geek. Well that's until book 3 when you feel so happy for him after he's met the perfect girl. Any average teen would love this. Guys and Girls alike.
