Love to knit or crochet? Love to make things for a good cause? Then Vanna's book, VANNA'S CHOICE, will point you in the right direction. What better cause than St. Jude's Hospital?

There are 12 knit and 13 crochet projects in her book. Make one and donate it to a child fighting for their life at St. Jude's Hospital. From warps, to afghans, to slippers to hats and scarves, there is a project for everyone, even if you are just a beginner.

There are four pages describing the work that goes on at St. Jude's and the Quilt of Dreams event. After reading these pages, you will want to grab your knitting needles or crochet hook and some yarn and make several items to give.

The yarn of choice is Vanna's Choice yarn by Lion Brand. It is soft and comfy feeling and comes in earth tones. What better way to heal than to connect with our earth! Each project has a color photo and the instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. Skill level and yarn weight recommendations are also given with each project. Seven pages of general instructions include weight definitions and hook or needle sizing chart as well as the skill level definitions. If you have forgotten a basic, these pages will help you get going again.

It is nice to see that a STAR is willing to be down-to-earth and help others. Grab a copy and be part of this wonderful charity.

Several different patterns for hats, comfortghans, scarves and booties are included in this book. Patterns are offered in crochet as well as some in knit. A variety of sizes and styles make it a great overall resource to use up scraps of yarn for a worthwhile cause or as a gift.

The very first pattern in this book, a cabled shawl, is fraught with errors! Cast on 89, not 87; Repeat rows 2-9, not rows 1-9. As a first-time cable project, it was extremely frustrating until I discovered that, obviously, those who publish books don't always have competent proofreaders/copyeditors. Thankfully, I'm well on my way to finishing the shawl, but not without repeated frogging :). There are other projects in this book I really like, so hopefully I won't have to endure the same experience.

I was disappointed with this book because I do make lots of gifts for people and was looking for some new patterns. For the most part, these patterns are very basic (all single crochet or all purl), and the only design part is to change colors every row or two. This book was not worth the money spent, to learn that I can knit a square blanket and change colors every two rows using expensive yarn.

This book was ordered from Amazon and is a very nice book. Is a soft cover, in very good condition, for a very reasonable price. Was delivered in a very timely manner.

There are childrens and adult patterns for slippers, hat and afghans.

I already had a copy of this book and ordered one like it for a friend, who is learning to crochet. Highly recommended for anyone desiring to crochet or knit.

Not what I had expected. Too many afghans and not enough variety in other "gifts". Would not have bought it in a store where I could have seen what was inside.

I really love this book and the other new release Vanna crochet book. They are both easy and real patterns without mistakes. If you haven't tried the yarn she uses before,,,you should also try it out. Nice, stretchy, and thick. Easy to work with. I have only crocheted for a year or so and consider myself a beginner. A lot of patterns out there are hard for me to understand but I really understand most of Vanna's (except the baby booties)....my fault I'm sure. Otherwise a good book for a beginner. You won't be disappointed.
