My cooler worked great as long as you had your laptop sitting very precisely on top of it. Otherwise it makes a really annoying sound, b/c the weight of the laptop is too much for the plastic guarding the fans. One day out of no where the plastic that guards the fans started touching the blades somehow and the noise was constant. Product is good while it lasts.....which isn't very long.

I just got my first laptop cooler. It works great and is very silent, hardly noticeable. I have used it both while working on my desk and in bed. It cools my macbook pro 15" down to around 8-10 degrees. I highly recommend it specially for its price. It is also very slim and easy to carry around. I cannot comment on its long-term durability as yet!

I basically use this product as a stand for the laptop so that when it's sitting on my bed the fans under the laptop won't be blocked off and overheat the unit. That's pretty much what this thing is good for. The fans on this thing are flimsy and move just a little bit of air. If you are looking for something to really cool your notebook then i wouldn't recommend this, however, if you just need something to put your laptop on then this is fine.

FYI- When i read the other reviews someone mentioned that if the laptop isn't sitting on the stands properly then the fan starts making a sound and could break the fan. This is true. I have a 7 pound 15.4" screen laptop and so it just barely sits on it. If i shift the weight off the rubber feet then the weight of the laptop starts pressing on the fan.

When I first received this I was skeptical, it's so small and light. But it works so well, my laptop used to overheat pretty bad. It's a shocker that such a small and simple unit can keep my laptop so cooled down. The heat is limited to the one problem area and is quite low, whereas when it used to overheat it spread all over the keyboard as well and was dangerously hot. You cannot beat this cooler at such a great price.

I bought this thing 2 years ago, and I have been extremely satisfied with it. Not only is it a great price, but it does exactly what it promises to do [cool your laptop], and is extremely quiet.

It is so quiet that you will not even know that it is on. Often I remind myself to plug in the cooler, not even realizing that it is already plugged in and running.

Got mine today and my crappy Compaq doesn't shut down at all like it used to do yesterday in 10 min or less with the Creative sound card stuck in the side... Yes, ten or less. Unless you throw the ultra light little thing around... I wouldn't suggest anything less or more (considering it fits my 13" perfectly), especially for $20 or less.
