5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job perfectly, January 15, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had this for about 5 months now and it's still working perfectly. I never use my laptop without it. It keeps the CPU temperature of my PowerBook G4 at around 118-120deg; without it, I was typically running at around 135-138deg. At the lowest speed setting, I cannot hear the fan and it still keeps my laptop cool. However, if I'm using a program that is CPU intensive (e.g., PhotoShop), I have to increase the speed of the fan to keep my laptop at around 120deg. At the higher speeds, I can hear the fan, but it's no louder than the internal fan in my Dell laptop. I highly recommend this fan.

I've had this for about a year now and I'm still very pleased with it. It works well as a notebook stand and cools the computer down quite well. Every once in a while you do have to clean out dust from the fans, but that's a small price to pay for a cooler laptop and extra 2.0 ports.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits best with small and medium, but..., June 8, 2006

I have a 17" screen laptop that I use on this cooler and it still works pretty well. The right and left ends of the laptop hang off about 3 inches total (1.5 + 1.5), but the front and back fit almost exactly. The dual fans do keep things cooler and there is a speed adjustment dial on it to make the fans go faster (the picture shows only the blank side, not the side with all of the controls).

There are 4 USB ports, but keep in mind if you don't have 2.0 on your laptop, this device won't make them 2.0. Whatever your laptop ports are is what they give you more of (1.1, 2.0, whatever). You have to have the power adapter hooked up for the USB ports to work, but the fans work with your laptop power (laptop on, fans blow; laptop off or hibernating, fans don't). I wish it didn't need a power adapter at all, but that's a minor gripe.

I was given this cooler free by GamePC so I did not select it. Otherwise, I probably would have gone for a bigger one. This one works fine for now though.
