I carefully read the description of this product first before ordering it from Amazon.com and I am completely satisfied with it. Just what I was expecting!!!! Works perfectly with my Gateway desktop, HP Laptop and Acer Netbook. The only problem is that I find the usb cord to be short but that not stopping me from giving it 5 *****.

i plugged my logitech 5.1 system into it and then into my computer running the RC edition of windows 7... i found it would only put out 2 channel with terrible quality of sound through it... i then hooked it up to a different computer with vista and it had the same problem... then i hooked it up to a laptop with windows XP and it worked great and sounded great... dont use with 7 or vista

I purchased this product so I could work out my 5.1 headset on my laptop.

But unfortunately, my laptop works with windows 64 bit edition, and when I contacted them they told me that they didn't yet issue and version of the software for windows 64-bit editions.

Also, the headset's volume was way too low, I'm not really sure how would that work with an actual 5.1 system, but with my headset, this product sucks.

also, there isn't any option to convert or reverse the Sub/Center for people who know about that, cause my headset needed it, but I couldn't work it out.

In average, this adapter thing is laying in my room doing nothing, since it didn't work with my 5.1 headset.

Review changed (aka Dept. of Eating One's Words). After playing around with the settings, finally got it to work (this reviewer is computer challenged). Test signal was stereo FM from receiver into "line" port. Adjusted "line" setting recording volume on laptop screen to about 1/4 of max and got no audible distortion; distortion crept in around 1/3 to 1/2 of max. Both channels recorded and played back through headphones.

Previous comments about not working with 64 bit Lenovo T61, with Windows XP do not hold. Overall, it works well for recording and seems to be a nifty little gadget for the price.

Recommend using headphones and recording and playing short test segments (its easy) to get the recording volume adjusted correctly for your source.
