Let's make it simple. I have been using this fan for two years now and I think they deserve the recognition of the achievement that Vantec have made. I use this to cool down my video card. It fitted perfectly cause the fan blows the air directly to the graphic card. It make the air circles in all the case.
Pros: - 2 fans. - variable speed control. - low noise fans. - easy to install. - Long lifetime! - Cool blue led light in the fans. If you are using a transparent case it looks great. Cons: - It takes up a PCI slot Very satisfied with this pci fan, in fact I bought another one to my PC in the office. I do recommend this product.

I've been struggling with heat issues for quite some time with my gaming PC and have gone through numerous fans and combinations trying to find a way to keep it cool. I had just about resigned myself to just running with the case open all the time until I bought this. After shuffling my PCI cards around so as to allow a space between this and my 6800 Ultra I fired the machine up (and closed the case! ;-) and did some gaming, all the while keeping an eye on the temperature of the card. This fan easily dropped the temperature on the card 5-7 degrees celsius when the graphics are running full bore.. once the chaos on the screen starts to subside, the cooling is even better. As an added bonus, this will cool the card down quick once you exit your game.
I thought for sure that I would have to trade off cooling for a lot more noise and I was surprised to find that I had to listen for it in order to hear it. About the only complaint I have on this is that the fan speed is manual with a slider on the back (which I knew when I bought it) so it is not temperature sensitive. Still deserves 5 stars though.

Does not work with all systems...,

I have a good sized case with 3 open PCI slots, like most new MOBO's my PCI-e slot is the highest slot closest to the case fans with he other slots below it. My cards also mount at the rear of the system with everything attached to the left panel with the right panle removeable. I have tried other PCI fan cards in the past and they are easy to switch their configuration so you can mount it how ever you need. One thing the discription fails to mention is the direction of airflow. Under the stock configuration, according to the instructions that came with the card, it draws air in at the top of the card and blows it out the bottom onto the GPU. But like most newer PC MOBO's my PCI-e slot is ABOVE the other PCI slots. You can't simply flip the bracket on this card to reverse the air flow. The mounting bracket is attached by screws that can not mount to both sides and to support the long length of the card it needs to plug into an open PCI slot, which you can not do if you flip the card over. So after drilling a couple of holes and creating a support to sit under the card it's installed. The 2 fans move alot of air but it does not pull in air from the outside just moves air with in the case. My exhaust fan is above all the PCI slots so it blows air up past the GPU into the air flow being sucked out of the case so it does help. Vantec needs to be like Antec and make their PCI Fan Cards more versitle...or Antec needs to make a Dual fan card. **Caution** fan blade tips are sharp...I put my hand over the card to feel the air flow and one of the fan tips nicked my finger and ripped it open.

Got this hoping that it would keep my GPU cooler, but it actually made it about 7C hotter idle and didn't do much on load. Tried placing it above and below it, but it didn't make a difference. Kinda loud when its on high but I guess the LED's are cool.

This card does a little to move air around, but makes a ton of noise on the highest setting (Think hair dryer).
It should work for the application, its just loud at high speeds.

Works for aiming it at a hot adjacent card,
This review is from: Vantec SP-FC70-BL Spectrum System Fan Card with Dual Adjustable 70mm UV LED Fans (Blue) (Personal Computers)
If the rest of your components stay cool, and one place is hotter than it should be, this should help. Realistically, it's only going to have a significant effect on the two cards that it's in between as it doesn't draw fresh air or exhaust, but it will blow around the air inside for more of a chance for the hotter components to approach the average temperature inside the case.
One thing I worry about though, is the claim that the card is "Made from UV sensitive material" which would mean either it would need protection from UV (to not degrade) or, for instance, where UV hits it, there's an etching left. As Mandy Patinkin said, ""Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya, you kilt my father, prepare to die." No wait, wrong quote - that has nothing to do with "UV sensitive material". But he also said, "You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

No Slot Open With GTX295,

Hello; The product itselkf is woth the money. After doing some reconstruction-had to breack PCI slot tabs, screw hole is not the standad size hole on ATX mobos-too small. It would have been ok but I have a GTX295 which covers the slot it's looking for. My only exposed slot under the 295 did not correspond with the fan's tab. Once mounted, my temperature on the PCB dropped dramatically as well as the GPU itself. Holds at 50degrees Centigrade. The flourescent lights look cool, they light up the whole bottom half of my mobo.

Excellent Cooling for fanless Video Card,
By T. Whitey (Petaluma, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vantec SP-FC70-BL Spectrum System Fan Card with Dual Adjustable 70mm UV LED Fans (Blue) (Personal Computers)
I use this pointed directly at my fanless vid card with great results. Prior to this fan, GPU temp under load was about 80c. Now, with the fan on low (extremely quiet,) it barely spiked to 51c. With the fan on high under load it didn't get any higher than 40c. High setting is much louder, but it does have a variable switch (like a dimmer switch) so you can probably find a happy medium that works for you some where in between. Moves A LOT of air on low and even more on high setting. Very impressed for such a cheap price.

It saved my GFX card!,
This review is from: Vantec SP-FC70-BL Spectrum System Fan Card with Dual Adjustable 70mm UV LED Fans (Blue) (Personal Computers)
The Vantec Spectrum PCI Fan Card is worth the money. I have an old Geforce FX5200 and the fan died after about 2 months of use. So, one day I was playing Wolf ET and everything started moving really slow.
I knew it was not lag because I saw the all too familiar weird colors on my screen which indicates that the card is about to bite it. It would have to, if I didn't immediately stop playing. Then I come to the place that I do all of my shopping at and find this great dual fan solution. I'm happy to say that my old FX5200 is working like new again. The manual fan speed is what I really like about it. There is a slider accessible from the back of your case from the fan unit that allows you to adjust the speed from 7 volts to 12 volts which is around 2400rpms to 4600rpms +-. Yes it is kind of loud at times but my graphics card is more important to me than silence. Oh, one more thing. My case temperature dropped from 77F to 66F. Sweet:)

This review is from: Vantec SP-FC70-BL Spectrum System Fan Card with Dual Adjustable 70mm UV LED Fans (Blue) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this Vantec PCI slot fan 10 months ago, and I'm coming back now to write a review because it is such a good little fan card, especially compared to others on the market. It is still running strong, I can easily dust it using compressed air along with the rest of my computer components, and it's very, very, very quiet. You -might- hear something if it is turned up all the way to high but, then, what do you expect? The fact that I can lean behind my desk and adjust the speed slider depending upon the season or ambient temperature is a HUGE plus! I generally leave it at 1/3 to 1/2 speed throughout the year and turn it up to 2/3 speed in the summer. I don't have AC (air conditioning) and this little fan has saved me a lot of headache! It also works really well in conjunction with the Antec Cyclone Blower but -only- if make sure that the fans are not "fighting" one another (blowing in opposite directions). However, you will want to keep an eye on the Cyclone Blower because it does accumulate dust like nobody's business and that Cyclone Blower will eventually need replacing. (But that is a review for another product.) I did want to also add that this card -can- be flipped, but you sacrifice some stability because it requires removing two eyeglass-sized screws on one side of the card. Remove all of the screws, carefully remove the knob on the speed slider, and then you can remove and flip the bracket. The two screws on the end you can replace, but the two on the side will no longer have holes, so keep them in a little baggie somewhere safe in case you want to flip the card again. The knob for the speed slider slides back on just as snug as before, too. As long as the card is nestled comfortably in a PCI-card slot it has more than enough stability to keep it running even without two of the four screws in place. It doesn't vibrate that much in the first place! In any case, this little fan is a worthwhile investment in your computer's future! |
