Vapen & Ammunition,

You've got to listen to this CD. It's one of the greatest CDs ever.I happened to buy this CD when I took a trip to Sweden. At a music store, I asked local folks what they would recommend if I want to try a great Swedish band's CD. They said I should buy Kent's "Vapen & Ammunition" because everybody loves it. I had no idea about Kent, but once I started listening to the CD, it instantly became my favorite. Not being able to understand Swedish language didn't matter. Every song was great -- I mean, every song. There is something special about this talent. Now I'm definitely a Kent fan.

If you don't check out this CD you are basically denying yourself one of the best albums ever. It's even better than Hagnesta Hill, which was somehow even better than Isola..and so one back to Kent's debut CD. If you're into pop/rock/alternative at all, of just curious even, check this one out.

Great... but not their best.,

"Vapen & Ammunition" was actually the first full Kent album I ever heard and obviously it was good enough to spark my interest as I proceeded to go out and buy all of their other cds. But once I had them all, I realized that this one was not nearly as great as their others (especially "Isola" and "Hagnesta Hill"). Don't get me wrong, I love the cd... just not as much as I did before hearing everything that came before it. This album seems a little softer, a little less guitar driven... like a "kindler, gentler Kent" kind of thing. Don't let this discourage anyone from buying this cd. It's totally worth the money, and is a must have for any fan of Kent. But take my advice and don't let this be the only Kent cd you own. Key tracks are "Sundance Kid" (my fave) and "Dom Andra".

I agree with the first reviewer of this album (also a fellow Albertan). I worked in Sweden for the past 2 years and Dom Andra is the song that made me sit up and notice Kent last year. What a fantastic album. Clearly I think they're best. I loved this CD so much that I promptly went out and bought a few copies as Christmas presents for my friends back in Canada. After that, I expended my Kent collection and now I have all their CDs. But if you're going to buy one Kent album, buy this one. It's in Swedish, but that's the fun part too. I should add that Kent are also fantastic live. I was lucky enough to see them in concert at Stockholm Stadium this past june (2003) for their only concert of the year. If ever in Sweden and Kent happen to be playing live, I urge anyone to go and see them. Simply one of the best bands in the world!!!!

4 stars and I don't even know what they're saying!,

Kent is an unbelievable band, if you don't have Isola and Hagnesta Hill (english versions) then RUN and buy them now. Vapen & Ammunition is unfortunately in Swedish and I seriously doubt we will ever get another english Kent CD, since the rest of the world ignores them. But this takes up where Isola left off, and while Hagnesta is a great album it was a tad too synthy to equal Isola, and even though this is in Swedish i have a feeling this would have equaled Isola. I know this sounds crazy, but that's what happens when us Anglos get addicted to Kent! So in summary - a worthy buy for the Kent fan, even if you don't speak the language. Hey, just think, when that Swedish exchange student comes over to your bachelor pad, you will have the perfect CD to make out to! That's what I'm counting on, anyways.

This new album was a bit overproduced sounding for me. I preferred "Isola" (my fave)with it's stripped down, almost haunting melodies and melancholy emotion. This album is more upbeat and the vocals are again beautiful, warm and nostalgic. I'm looking forward to the English version to come out so I know what they are saying, however, Swedish is a pleasant sounding language (not severe, prominent like German or Russian)The foriegn language factor is not annoying at all here.A couple tracks are on the cheesy side, yet there are about 3-4 tracks that make the album worth buying. (It's almost impossible to find an album nowadays where you absolutely dig every one of the songs)Kent is becoming one of my favorite bands of the moment.

I was just in Sweden for 3 weeks and I picked up this Kent cd because I knew they were a popular Swedish band and from what I heard (which wasn't much) they were pretty good. After listening to this cd, I have already ordered Isola and I can't wait for the English version to come out, probably because I want to know what they're saying. I love all the songs, especially Dom Andra and Socker, but they're all incredibly great. I recommend this to anyone who appreciates good music, even if you don't understand the lyrics.

This 2002 CD was my first exposure to Kent, and will not assuredly be my last. The songs are melodic, catchy and superbly crafted. Dom Andra and Duet are real stand-outs but the entire cd is fantastic. Edgier and more substantial than standard pop fare, but catchy and accessible. This is quite simply one of the best cd's I have heard this year. My friends, the future of music may very well be in Swedish (e.g. kent and Garmarna). This is exciting and refreshing stuff. We would all be well advised to brush-up on our Swedish.

Kent strikes again, this time with a knockout!,

The new Kent album is just fantastic. Jokke Berg must be one of Europe's finest songwriters. He's got an supperiour ability to write songs that communicates to the huge masses of people, but at the same time lets the listener get the feeling of that the songs are most important to you yourself. You can hear and feel it in the first single release "Dom Andra", a radiohit with an instant magic to your ear. You get all warm inside listening to it, and you whistle along. The familiar Kent beat puts you in some kind of trance through the whole record, and it wount let you snap out of it. Its hopless to pick out an absolutt favourit, because there all so irritating beautiful, tender and sexy at the same time. This record is irresistable. Its almost impossible to do it better, that must be the thougt going through Jokke Bergs mind right now. I salute Kent for giving me a song like "Kärleken väntar". And to you reading this, go out buy it, order it, whatever, just get it! This is a must for all musiclovers!

Sweden seems like it's becoming the Seattle of the early 00's - there's a ton of great music coming out of there. (And it has nothing to do with Dancing Queen.) I've been listening to Swedish melodic/progressive death metal for the past 5 years or so, and ironically, that's how I stumbled onto Kent. Jonas Renske from KATATONIA had this album listed on his current playlist on the band's website, so I hunted down some mp3s (yes, I'm ordering the album) and it's an excellent discovery. (Thanks Jonas!!) Highly recommended if you like stuff like RADIOHEAD, THE VERVE and COLDPLAY. I even hear quite a bit of DEPECHE MODE and SMASHING PUMPKINS here. It's bittersweet and melancholy without being whiny or heart-on-sleeve (the lyrics are in Swedish so I don't know what they're upset about anyway), and every track is extremely catchy. Gorgeous harmonies, sweeping melodies and just enough electronic tinge to give it an interesting texture - don't be surprised if this stuff hits US radio soon (then again, probably not, given the current sad state of things). If any of the above bands interest you (including recent KATATONIA and the mellower side of OPETH), and you've never heard of this band, then you owe yourself a listen!! (I just found their 2nd disc, Isola, in a local record store, and that's very good as well, though I prefer this one.)
