This is a VaporGenie Classic pipe in Maple. The bowl, screen and filter top threads are made of stainless steel. The black mouth-tip is optional and can easily be removed by pulling it out.
The VaporGenie pipe is lead free. No glues or adhesives are used in the VaporGenie Classic pipe.
The VaporGenie pipe relies on a totally new concept to provide the 'sweet-spot' vaporization temperatures of 225-375 degrees.
The secret to the VaporGenie pipe is the patented flame filter. The flame filter is located above your tobacco (between the tobacco and flame). In the pictures, the flame filter is located within the spherical wood part. The flame filter is specially designed to mix the flame and cool air and provide vaporization temperatures.
The flame filter is specially designed to withstand the flame heat for many years. It is made of an extremely durable and nontoxic ceramic: silicon carbide.
The VaporGenie pipe is used in a manner very similar to a conventional pipe. That's what makes it so easy to use.
First, the VaporGenie pipe is loaded with tobacco, and then the flame filter is screwed onto the pipe. It is important to use loose, shredded tobacco; do not pack.
Then, you inhale from the pipe while supplying flame to the flame filter. The flame filter automatically protects the tobacco from burning. You control the exact temperature by adjusting the amount of flame applied and speed of inhalation. It is important to not touch the ceramic filter with the flame.
By paying attention to the flavors and heat inhaled, you know the temperature, and can adjust flame application accordingly.

It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of using this thing, but now that I have, it works wonderfully. I find it a good way to conserve my legal herbs --smoking destroys some of the actives, so vapor is an alternative that allows maximum potency. It's also more discreet. There is still a pleasant herbal odor but you don't get that strong burning smell. The vapor tastes awesome compared to smoke too, again just a pleasant herbal taste. And of best of all, it's easy on my lungs! The only thing I would like is if they gave it a longer/flexible mouthpiece so you can more easily see what you're doing when lighting it. I added a 5" length of rubber tubing over the mouthpiece of mine and it's now by far the favorite piece in my collection. Still worth 5 stars for the price (compared to other vaporizers out there), effectiveness and overall satisfaction.
All I can say to those who posted poor reviews, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you're trying to pull the flame into the chamber with the herb it will taste horrible and will not work correctly. The very first time I used this I accidentally pulled the flame against the filter. It tasted horrible and I didn't get any vapor. I also have made the mistake of putting too much herb in the bowl. The result was burned herb. Less is more with this method!

Not that impressed
Some people may like it, but I am not a fan. I couldn't get a solid pull at all from the pipe unless I jammed the lighter into the pipe (which the instructions say not to do). Read more

Big learning curve does the job though.
Instructions and videos don't really help you learn how to use it. Its more of a find out through trial and error, but it does pay off when you get the hang of it.
