Customer Reviews

I read a similar review but thought it was just a defective filter.

All the bottles have this horrible alkaline smell and taste that is horrendously strong.

I like it and it may be a little over priced at first view but it grows on you.

This is my third vapur water bottle from owning the .5L Reflex and 1L Element. I absolutely love them. I have used the element for the gym and when travelling in order to avoid buying water. I am forever a customer

In using the eclipse micro filter water bottle, I have noticed the following:

--- I didn't realize how much force you have to use to suck/squeeze water out of the straw to get the water out. It is comforting to know that it is filtered. if you used these types of straws before, this is normal.

--- Matte finish is peeling already! It is peeling where it is folding from sucking the water out of the bottle down to the bag getting thin. I will state that I did keep it in a cooler for a couple of minutes and used it after applying sunblock may be the reason. I would think that this should be the same Eclipse bottle sold without the filter that can be fold-able and frozen.

--- Not as portable anymore with the filter. I may have to buy another supercap separately in order to fold it properly when travelling. I would expect at the price point that a carrying case for the straw filter and another supercap would be included, but it is not.

Overall I do love the product, but it fell short for me regarding the matte finish peeling and it being not as portable. I will call up Vapur and update you with their response.

I was really excited to try this item out. But after I rinsed and filled the bottle up it had a really strong chlorine/chemical taste. I tried soaking the filter over night and it still tasted horrible. I read a similar review but thought it was just a defective filter. My item was so bad I could not drink any of the water at all. Disappointed. Really wanted to like this item.

Great product! Easy to use, filtration works great. The price seemed a little high but it does work and packs well.

Just used this bottle as I travelled several hundred miles across India. It's well made, very light, and packed tight. Would never think of travelling internationally without it again.

Especially full. Just a ground level drop can rupture the bag and break the filter. That sais, otherwise a great bottle. The filter improves taste and removes particulates, cysts and most bacteria. I tested it with well water and water produced by an offshore watermaker and it worked fine.

YOU WOULD NOW HAVE TO BE BIT CRAZY OR REALLY UNINFORMED TO BUY THIS SUPER EXPENSIVE AND SUPER OUTDATED SYSTEM WHEN YOU CAN GET FAR, FAR BETTER WATER FILTRATION SYSTEMS FOR LESS MONEY!

I bought one of these Vapur 1 liter bag micro filter systems for comparison with other systems such as the Sawyer mini and squeeze filter systems.

The Vapur is supplied with a 1 liter very dark blue plastic bag which holds the very long water filter (unusual since the filter entrance for unclean water in most water filters is near the top of the unit) via plastic threaded coupling containing a rubber washer to prevent water leakage. The top of the filter has a flip top for obtaining the filtered water and can be hung via the attached orange karabiner. Thus system is very easy to use; merely fill the bag and screw on the cap, open the cap and squeeze the water bag. Of course, you will actually have to prime the dry filter with some clean water first. The hollow fiber element filters water to 0.02 microns which is sufficiently small for parasite eggs, protozoal cysts and trophozoites and bacteria (but not viruses). Very thin bacteria such as the water-borne Leptospira interrogans (multiple serovars) which can cause severe, life threatening human disease of the kidneys and liver (Weils' disease) or lungs (pulmonary leptospirosis) is however thin enough for some of them (enough for us to culture in our laboratory!) to pass through a 0.2 micron filter. As such, I by far prefer to use a 0.1 micron filter in the tropics where leptospirosis is more prevalent.

The other points to made regarding the Vapur 1L Microfilter are the very, very high price ($ 48.44) for this unit, and the really pathetically low maximum filter life (up to 500 liters = 13 gallons)!!
