Wonderful CD,
By Melissa Carter (Lexington, KY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Variations on a Happy Ending (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after going to a concert in a small venue where she opened for the Reel World Sting band. I instantly feel in love with her music and bought this CD before I left the concert(She even autographed it for me). If you like piano music this is a CD you must own. It is a good mixture of songs that varies in emotions. A few of my favorites is Asleep in You Arms, and Variations on a Happy Ending. I wish that she would come back to Kentucky so I can see her in concert again. :(

A True Artist,

I am continually reminded of how our most talented artists go relatively unknown in this age of "American Idol" and other lowest-common-denominator entertainment. Great artists rarely get much media exposure. I am confident that not one percent of our population has heard of Barbara Higbie, though she has been around for years. I only wish she had more recordings to choose from. I recently saw her in concert with two other Windam Hill artists, and she was clearly the star of the show. Her artistry on the piano borders on genius, yet even her complex compostions are accessible and easily evoke emotion. I will never forget her playful facial expressions as she played "Baby Buda". I just purchases this album, and it is as good as I could have hoped for. If you really like jazz and new age solo piano, this CD is a must for your collection. Thank you Barbara. I will enjoy this gift for years to come.
