I buy a lot of shoes. I love most of the shoes I buy but my purchase are more on price and style. Rarely, do I seek quality first. This is the one time I went with quality first and ended up with both a great price and a very stylish shoe. It is a great light trail hiking shoe. Resistant to mud and bends with the uneven terrain. Great for quick ascencion with many switch backs and protects ankles and heels well in the descent. Just as good as a workout shoe as hiking. The fit is great both with thick or thin socks.

Comfort Shoes for troubled feet,

I always look forward to wearing these shoes- for hiking, jogging (2-3 miles) or just going around town. They have a low key subtle look, well made, camouflages dirt well, but above all very comfortable, for my feet at least. The inner contour of these shoes feels similar to Clarks- flat insole with low arch support, wider forefoot(feels like 2E's of Nike, ASICS, NB...) and taller toe box. An extra touch is a subtle built-in heel cup that seem to help to reduce the pressure on the heel, helpful during prolonged standing. Very lightwt and breathable- you can actually feel the breeze on your forefoot when you walk. On the other hand, may be too cold for winter. Has a moderate cushioned feel, which is just fine for my purposes. Feels true to size or a smidgeon large. The only minor gripe is I can sometimes feel the seam stitching on the medial surface of my great toe MP joint(where toe joins the foot), which is enlarged compared to your average person. I give it 4.5 stars- with a price of $45 at AMZN, rounds off nicely to 5 stars!!!

I just have to say that I wore a pair of these for two weeks and I had to return them, may be by now they have fixed the problem or what ever but the tread started to just fall off and I had to return them to REI. Yea you can glue shoes and call it good but I'm just not going to be satisfied with that when buying them for so much from a retailer and then in only 2 weaks of use the sole is having problems! That being said the shoe is very comfortable and the foot bed in my opinion has a pretty signifgant arch and the support is good, everything was great till the tread started to come off. I could have given it 5 stars if it would have just held together for a couple months.
