So I tried on some of the Vasque brand shoes and started looking for more reasonably priced versions.
Overall, my feet were in good shape after hiking and the boot fit well.
This new model is much sturdier than the last model, with improved structure and support.

I was only able to "break in" my new boots by wearing them around the house before we hit the trail in the eastern Sierras last week. We did six hikes in 7 days, totaling right around 30 miles. This includes hikes on icy/muddy/snowy trails. The verdict: these are great boots! No hot spots or blisters, great ankle support, good grip, and my feet stayed warm and dry. The lacing system means you can make a lot of adjustments to both the total foot volume and the tightness around the ankles.

I should mention that I have terrible feet, with a semi-dormant Morton's neuroma on one foot and twingy tendons on my left foot and ankle. And my feet are really wide, which made the wide size available in the shoe a real treat. Any shoe that let's me hike in comfort is the real deal.

My only caveat is a warning that Vasque boots tend to run small... I normally wear a 9, but to accommodate lightweight hiking socks I ordered a 9.5 W and they fit perfectly.

These were delivered in a timely manner and tried on. These are actually for my daughter and an upcoming hiking trip and she read that they tend to run a bit small so we bought them 1/2 size larger and they fit well - you could, depending on what type of sock you will be wearing with them, go up 1 full size. They have not been used yet for hiking, but have a comfortable feel.

I wore this boot up and down several mountain trails and rocky terrain in Hawaii. Overall, my feet were in good shape after hiking and the boot fit well. No blistering or soreness.

Some minor gripes as an FYI - even after a break in beforehand and days of significant hiking and climbing, this boot remained fairly stiff around the ankle. This was good for avoiding twisting my ankles, but they felt a bit too bulky and it cut down on my range of motion quite a bit climbing on very rugged terrain. Due to the sturdiness of the ankle, I didn't feel quite as stable on uneven surfaces as I have in similar boots. For walking over relatively level and even trails, they felt great. They also don't keep water out very well, but that's a price you pay for added ventilation. I didn't overheat in 85-90 degree weather.

I am normally a size 8 (can even fit in a 7.5 at times) and I'm glad I went to REI to try these boots on - I ended up needing an 8.5. I have a wide foot (not super wide, but wider than average) and these fit great. There was plenty of room and the laces and eyelets really allowed you adjust the boot as needed.

I had tried on a lot of boots at REI and I narrowed it down to these and the Salomon Comet 3D. I bought both boots and wore them both around the house for a few weeks. They both fit realtively good with a few minor differences. I ended up going with the Salomon, but if I had never worn the Salomon, I would have definitely went with these - it was a hard choice. I don't think you can go wrong with these boots, although of course I never wore them on the trail. Hope this gives some insight for someone!

This new model is much sturdier than the last model, with improved structure and support. I recommend the non-vortex boot for the desert - lighter and breathes better for greater ventilation. We hike about 600 miles a year and the soles last about two years.

I bought the boots early last week and then used them this past weekend for an approximate 10 mile hike w/ full camping pack. Some light soreness on my ankles from the boot hitting, but no problems with blisters or anything major. Great purchase.

These boots are amazing. They require little, if any breaking in. They do run small. I typically wear a 8-1/2 street shoe, and a 9 or 9-1/2 running shoe. I returned the 9's as they were too small. These fit perfectly. These are great for going over obstacles. They are super flexible while being stiff enough to support your foot and ankle.

I purchased the Vasque Women's Breeze 2.0 Hiking Boot because I needed a good sturdy boot to wear when I walk my dogs each day. Our walks are several miles long and take us through rough, uneven pasture land and over lots of rocky outcroppings. So a good sturdy hiking boot is important to me. I also have very difficult feet to fit. They are wide with extremely high arches, high insteps and narrow heals. Getting shoes to fit is generally a nightmare. In addition to my fit problems, I also have suffered with plantar fasciitis (as well as other pain issues due to methods used to try to correct the plantar fasciitis) in my left foot for the past year. Basically, I've just come to live with the fact that, for me, wearing shoes will always be a painful experience. I'm quite pleased to report that is not the case with these boots. The width is perfect (I wear a 7.5W in regular shoes but always buy my hiking boots a bit bigger so I went with an 8W) and the higher cut of the boot provides great ankle support. The sole, while very sturdy, is extremely comfortable and when I wear these boots I don't suffer any of the pain I had been having with plantar fasciitis. Because of these boots, I can finally look forward to our daily walks again instead of dreading them. Thank you, Vasque, for such a wonderful product!
