I just received my boots in the mail and ordered them so I can bring them with me on a trip to Iceland. They do fit well, but the material isn't as quality as I had hoped (especially for this brand's reputation and price.) I wore them around town doing regular errands to break them in; nothing strenuous and not walking through any real extreme climate except for some snow. The toes and the sides of the shoes are very scuffed up now with large guages. I'm pretty disappointed that my brand new boots only looked nice and new for a measly 5 hours. I have no idea how to get the deep gauges out either. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix and prevent this from happening again?

Have happily worn Vasque Sundowners for decades until they started manufacturing them in China (and charging the same high prices). They fit poorly and are no longer comfortable. The Italian made ones lasted for years. I have serious doubts about the durability of these Chinese made ones. Sent these back and bought Hi-Tec brand which fit like a glove, were comfortable right out of the box, have a Vibram sole and, after about 18 months of heavy wear, seem very durable.

I too hiked all over the Blue Ridge, the southwest, Europe and Central America in these boots. Sadly, after 17 years they died, and when I went to purchase a new pair they changed the design and went cheap on the materials, they're now made in China. Way to ruin a perfect boot.
