Thomas Mapfumo's chimurenga music is deceptively simple. On first listen is seems repetitive but, once you begin to understand, it all makes sense. Each song blooms into something quite unique and unforgettable. Some of these songs on 'Vanhu Vatema' I wish would go on forever. I also recommend 'Corruption' if you can find it. If you are looking to buy your first Mapfumo album, remember that he has never cut a subpar album so start anywhere.
