Find Another Video!, November 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vatican City: Art & Glory [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is one of a series of videos that also included "Florence - Cradle of the Renaissance". I ordered both and was supremely disappointed.
In my on-line review of "Florence - Cradle of the Renaissance", I stated that the picture quality was that of a tourist operating their new video camera. I am happy to say that the cameraperson seems to have honed their skills a bit in Florence before moving on to the Vatican. Be warned, though, that there are still many unfocused views and still shots of very poor quality.
What this video has - that the Florence video did not - is the cameraperson's discovery of the "zoom" button. The overly-used reverse zoom technique can be very unsettling. Remember to take your Dramamine one half hour before watching this video.
As with "Florence - Cradle of the Renaissance" the narration is not very intelligent.
Finally, it appears that the film crew [was there a film crew?] did not get any additional access than is avaiable to the public. My own vacation video included most of the artwork covered.
This video gets one star for spelling "Vatican" correctly.
