Portable lock-up,

First I always have to laugh when I see these wonderful moveable cases with locks on them - if you wanted what was inside wouldn't you just carry it away - but I guess it can serve a purpose other than making me smile.
The other smile comes from this excellent case. I use it for DVDs I've recorded and then keep it near my entertainment center. It can sit on the floor without worry of people damaging it because it is pretty sturdy, although I wouldn't try jumping up and down on it. It looks neat in a military sort of way. The inside is padded. You would want to put the CDs or DVDs in covers of course (it came with 6) and has 3 Velcro removable dividers. You can fit 30 jewel cases, 60 slim jewel cases or 165 with just the thin covers. The drawer removes completely - so yes the lock does come in handy to secure the drawer if you are carrying the case around. It has rubber `feet' on the bottom and would be stackable with other cases. Just really a neat idea, but, I would also check prices with my nearest office supplier store as I have seen the prices wildly vary.

It's a good case. It holds 31 CDs/DVDs in standard jewel cases, 62 in slim cases. I don't use the Vaultz sleeves. The discs don't sit in the drawer in the normal position you would expect, you need to turn them 90 degrees since the drawer is taller than wide.
There aren't that many options for lockable disc storage available, and these are honestly a bit of overkill (they look like small music instrument cases), but are the best I've found to date. I may buy another.

This is a pretty solidly built cabinet, not flimsy at all though it is some kind of fiber board which would not be too difficult to break into with a screwdriver. The lock works well but I don't plan on using it. I would have preferred a simple latch or buckler so it could be simply transported by the handle without having to use the key.
The big plus on this unit is that the size is designed to accommodate a CD's jewel case. You'd be surprised how many storage units are designed to only fit sleeves. It would have been nice if these were designed to stack or interlock in case I need future expansion. I use this to store software CDs for my PC so they are easy to find when I need them. I've almost filled this unit. They do make a quad unit but that would have been overkill and too large for where I'd like to put it. I've used binders with insert pages which hold a lot more and keep things organized but a lot of software comes with their serial codes affixed to the jewel case or have the kind of gatefold package that you cannot put into a page type holder. This unit is excellent for the purpose I'm using it for. Great value for the money.
