4.0 out of 5 stars Great product but difficult to use
I have been using this product to treat the hairs on the facial area, like on my beard and eyebrows. The product really seems to work, you can actually feel the hair follicle disolve inside your skin. I have tried other products in the past from SharperImage and Verseo and none of them worked. I purchased this product about six months ago to remove about 20 -30 dark, coarse hairs from my chin. I have been using this product to treat the hairs on the facial area, like on my beard and eyebrows. The product really seems to work, you can actually feel the hair follicle disolve inside your skin. I have tried other products in the past from SharperImage and Verseo and none of them worked. Unfortunately, however, treatment with the Vector is very painful and messy. You have to apply special conductive gel or otherwise the treatment will not work. Also, I wish the wires were longer so it would be more comfortable to do the procedure.

Overall, this is a great product (probably the only one that works) but it could definitely use several improvements in some areas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works, October 24, 2004
I purchased this sytem about 2 years ago and I have used it on various parts of my body and I have to say that it definitely works. The hair that was treated did not grow back and in fact hair does not grow back after just one treatment, even though the company recommends 2 - 3 treatments.

Although, I have to say that the Vector System is really not practical for large areas. For example it would take forever to remove all the hair on the legs since hair is being removed one hair at a time. The Vector is perfect if it is being used on facial areas or areas where only a patch of hair needs to removed. On these areas the hair can be removed quickly and you never have to deal with the hassle of tweezing anymore.

So for this reason I am going to give this product 4 stars since I can say I got my money's worth.

Also, the company offers terrific customer service with very fast reply to emails.

I purchased this product about six months ago to remove about 20 -30 dark, coarse hairs from my chin. At the time I was thinking about going to go to a professional electrolyst (sp?), but figured that it'd be cheaper and more convenient to remove these hairs on my own with this product. The product documentation says that permanent hair removal will take 3 to 4 months.

For the last six months, I've been dutifully using this product weekly for about 20 minutes. Most of the hairs have gotten a lot finer, but they are still growing back. Now that they're finer, they're actually harder to "zap." Here's why: According to the directions, you grip the hair and pull slightly before you turn on the electric current. When the hairs are really fine, I end up pulling them out before I can turn on the current.

My advice to anyone who's considering shelling out the money for this product is to ask yourself if you can commit to using this product weekly for 6 to 12 months on a relatively small area.

4.0 out of 5 stars hairless in iowa, March 5, 2005
I have tried several home electrolysis machines with much disappointment.I purchased the Vector system about 6 months ago and have been very pleased. My first reaction was "Holy crap this thing actually works!" It does take some time to master the technique, and the gel isn't exactly a breeze to work with but if you're patient it really does work. It can be time consuming for larger areas. I have made time about once a week to work on the larger areas of my body. So far about 85% of me is completely hair free. I have had VERY LITTLE regrowth. I believe the Vector is worth the money, especially to someone who struggles with in grown hair and razor bumps that make wearing summer clothes embarrassing. I'll be wearing a bikini this summer!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Its really not that good, February 24, 2006
I think I wasted my money on this one. I wouldn't want you to do the same. The quality of the machine itself seems pretty solid and it does supply a current that can be felt on the skin. Is it doing anything to the hair? I guess I will find out in a few weeks time but I don't think so do to the difficulty of using the tweezers and gel.

My main problem with the machine are conductivity gel and the tweezers. The gel is suppose to be the bridge to getting the electric current to the hair root, however the gel is so slick that I couldn't grip the hair with the tweezers afterwards. I am NOT a novice with tweezers! I had a look at the tips of the tweezers and they were slightly uneven in thickness but no slight angle for gripping. Those who know a good pair of tweezers know what I am talking about. The tweezers are simply not that good and I have thick coarse hairs that I can yank with my nails sometimes. I wasn't able to grip the hairs and pull them out comfortably with the tweezers and I had to use a regular pair. Working with two pairs of tweezers was a pain. If the currently could have been applied trough my Tweezermans, then I wouldn't have a problem.

I thought that if I let the gel dry it would be a bit better. When the gel dries and starts to form a "skin" on the face that gets in the way and makes the tips of the tweezers gooey. The dried gel doesn't seem to catch the current according to the power meter on the box and so nothing is done to the root of the hair (I guess).

I didn't find it worth my time to remove about 10 hairs in 5 minutes.

I couldn't see using this machine without the foot pad. However, I found it easier to hold the foot pad in my hand while applying the current.

I wouldn't buy this machine, save your money and wait for the next best thing.

It just might be better just to leave it to the professionals. That is why they are still in business today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific product!, September 15, 2004
I have been using the Vector on my bikini area and I definitely noticed a reduction of hair in the area. This is a great product that acutally works and I recommend it to anyone who wants to do electrolysis at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe this product actually works!!, July 2, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have gone to professional electrolysis a number of times and they used a needle. When I did my research, I found reviews on the web that said this Vector system worked. I am here to tell you it really does.

It definitely will take a bit of getting used to using it, but by my second attempt - I started to get the hang of it and even from the start was removing hair. It is not for the faint of heart or the impatient because some stubborn hairs may sting and most of the time you'll feel a pinpoint burning sensation in the hair follicle. You are sending an electrical current through the hair via a tweezer (the professionals I went to used a needle), the gel is the conductor and it burns an enzyme in the follicle that will kill the root (as I understand the system). So that sensation means it is working. The hair removal is absolutely permanent. I recommend the foot pedal - exactly this kit I am reviewing - as it truly looks to me the same as what the professionals used when I paid $35.00 or $45.00 a visit and I went for months about once a week at different times in my life (I'm a 49 year old woman). Also, I had the system on a pretty high setting (well past the mid-way mark) just to test the feeling if the tweezers actually touched my skin and for me, while not a pleasant feeling, it wasn't any worse than tweezing. So if you have a slip of the hand or your hand shakes too much you'll be fine.

Having this at home to use at will is fantastic. You get a 30 day money back guarantee so there's really very little to lose.

Suggestions: Get a good lighted magnifying mirror and if starting on the face, do not do the lip first as I found that to be more sensitive ( especially until you become more experienced with the system). Wait at least a few days or longer between uses. Wash immediately with cool water and anti-bacterial (mild) soap.

I couldn't be more thrilled and it is well worth every single penny.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, November 6, 2008
Followed the directions, to include using the conductive jell, EXACTLY. The indicator needle moves, a little, nothing else happens. Tried waiting two and then three times as long as recommended. The hair can be "pulled", but does not "slide out easily" and grows back as if just removed with tweezers. No indication that the "current" is doing anything constructive. The instructions say that if the needle moves at all, the unit is fine and don't bother returning it. I say don't bother buying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This works! But, it takes time., July 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Vector Electrolysis system does indeed work. But, it takes time. At least on very dark hair. After the first treatment of a hair folicle, it will come back but with less and less of a root. So don't expect to be hair free with one treatment, it take lot's of little treatments for about a year, but you will see results that it's working. The other point I need to make is the pain aspect, it's a bit painful, it's also much worse when you have someone else do it - why, I don't know.

1.0 out of 5 stars returned-burned skin, April 11, 2006
By
megan (madison, wi) - See all my reviews
I tried this product after reading the reviews. I worried about the ones that said that the skin burned. I have had the same problem! I am a reasonably intelligent person, rule/direction follower and good with technology, but there was just no way around it. there is no way to get the conducting gel ONLY on the hair, hold it close to the root and wait until it comes out gently without at some point touching your skin. It has been aver 3 months and i still have scars, and will likely need to try a lightening cream to get it to go away completely. Thankfully I did not tryb anything on my face first!
Save your time and skin and save electrolysis for the professionals....some things are worth paying someone else to do!
