5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Spotlight on the Market
I've had this spotlight for almost two years and I've never have any problems. First of all I believe it's the brightest customer spotlight on the market. It comes with two bulbs 1.5 million candlepower each. I suggest just having one bulb on at a time because it still is much brighter than you'll probably need for most cases and it more than doubles battery time...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Bright but So So Quality
The light is very bright, The light is very large, most would say bulky, but well balanced. The trigger guard is a piece of hinged plastic that will quickly fall off. The body is light weight plastic. The batteries are sealed lead acid making it heavier than say a metal halide. It may be the best light for the money, but I would keep looking if I had it to do all over.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Spotlight on the Market, October 4, 2003

I've had this spotlight for almost two years and I've never have any problems. First of all I believe it's the brightest customer spotlight on the market. It comes with two bulbs 1.5 million candlepower each. I suggest just having one bulb on at a time because it still is much brighter than you'll probably need for most cases and it more than doubles battery time. Speaking of which is great. I've never done any tests but with average use I charge it about once a month. The area light on it is great. It's much much brighter than most flashlights and because it only uses a fraction of the power than the twin beams do you can easily get 20 to 30 hours on a single charge. Also one thing I don't know if was mentioned in the product preview is that it works as a 12-volt car plug in. Which means anything you can plug into your car (i.e. cell phone, CD player) can be plugged in to the front DC charger. So you can run your cell phone or something off this thing. You can get an adapter and change this into a normal household plug in. Overall, this is a perfect for pretty much anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars POWERFUL, bright and waterproof, July 17, 2003
This review is from: Vector VEC139Y Mega Sport Spot Light (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had both this spotlight and its less stronger sister, 2 million strong is still great.

I prefer this one, first, because it IS waterproof. A big plus for me. I worried about the other one accidently getting wet when set down on the ground. This one was accidently bumped into and it fell into about 18 inches of water after falling about 2 feet and making quite a splash! Unfazed and still shining bright, you could see what was under the water, it was that durable.

Secondly, it lasts very long on its charge. It takes a long time to charge, more than 12 hours, but I do not mind this one since it can last so long on each charge. If I am caving the next day I just put it on the charge next to the door and when I leave in the morning I just grab it and go.

If I have think of a complaint, it would be how heavy this spotloght is compared to others I have had. 9 pounds really weighs down the backpack. But this is due to the type of battery, same batery that holds the long charge. So I guess the offset is not so bad.

The price on this is very not so bad for what you get. Durability, long battery life and waterproof housing.

I bought this item originally for my boyfriend who lives in a very secluded area and very often has power outages.

We have used it on an unexpected night sailing trip and numerous other occasions. All around it is really handy and very powerful.

I bought one for myself and will never need another flashlight.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Overall Spotlight, December 8, 2002

I've got to say this is a great spotlight. I've had mine for a year or so and have had no problems with it. During a long power outage we used the smaller light on it for several hours to light a large room and it was very bright. The spotlight has helped me countless times. I bring it on every trip because not only is it a very bright light it's also a power outlet. I've used the power output on it several times. This is one of the most powerful handheld spotlights and it doesn't not let you down.

This is without a doubt, no question, the best flashlight in the world. This light should not even be considered a flashlight. It looks like a helicopter is shining at whatever you are pointing this thing at. It is that powerful. This will shine up anything you want, for up to one mile away. It is absolutely amazing. You will never be short of light again with this flashlight/helicopter spotlight. Buy it today.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Like It, March 17, 2004
This review is from: Vector VEC139Y Mega Sport Spot Light (Tools & Home Improvement)
Overall: This is a very good portable light. It practically turns night into day wherever you point it and for a good deal of the peripheral area around your targeted area, if that makes sense.

Pros: Really, really bright. There's no hype there. This thing is like two car headlamps strapped together and placed in your hand.

The sealed lead-acid batteries (there are two, one in the bottom "block" and one in the upper part behind the lamps themselves) are strong, reliable, and long-lasting.

Cons: It's somewhat heavy for one-handed operation, but it comes with an optional strap which you can throw over your shoulder to have to keep from supporting the entire weight with your hand. It may sound awkward as I describe it, but it works very well.

The fit-and-finish is only "average". It's made overseas like so many things these days, and some of the labels, ports/connectors feel less than optimal, but I consider this criticism to be a nit. The things I've mentioned are really only aesthetic and don't affect the light's performance.

And a caution: The lens gets very very hot after use, so you need to store it with that in mind until it cools down after several minutes.

Conclusion: Highly recommended. If you need powerful, portable light, this is it.

Try shining it on someone and watch them recoil as they are blinded and their skin becomes (uncomfortably) warm. This is a very powerful light. Using it for a night-time walk in the woods I accidentally sent a group of high-schoolers running for their lives, leaving a pile of discarded beer cans. They thought police were coming to get them.

The only problems I have had, after owning it for about a year, is that the cheap plastic "safety" trigger broke off, the metal clip on the end of the strap got bent, and I can never seem to find the recharger... oh well. Once my friend dipped it into a creek (it pierced through the water illuminating the aquatic life as well as the woods all around us) until I realized this might not be a good idea. Water did leak through the 'lens' into the bulb area, which had me worried. It was not damaged but I would not advise submerging this light. One big limit is the battery life, which seems to last around 30 minutes. Good thing it is rechargable.

Use one bulb or two, either way it is VERY bright. There is also the "area" light built into the handle, which is useful for small tasks when you don't need the full on battery draining power. The reassuring heft and warm beam of light make it a comforting companion during a cold moonless trek. Just don't stay out for longer than half an hour.

You better ask yourself just HOW much light you need and for how long. A smaller light with less of a 'WOW' factor might prove more useful, especially an LED due to the energy savings.

2.0 out of 5 stars When it works - it's not bad..., April 24, 2007
This review is from: Vector VEC139Y Mega Sport Spot Light (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use a spotlight on my ranch mainly during calving season, where you have to drive around in the fields checking the cows at all hours of the night.

I have used these spotlights and you can get a decent amount of light out of them, but the trigger button has failed on all three of them that I have owned. After using this light for 3-4 months, the trigger would stop working. Granted, a spot light on my ranch gets somewhat abused in how I use them, they are hanging out the window of a truck in -10 weather, but that should not affect the trigger.

3 million candle power is getting to be "small" these days. There are many other products out there well above 3 million.

I have switched to this spotlight: Black and Decker 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight #VEC192 - they seem to have fixed the switch problem (it's a Vector light rebranded) - at least it has not failed on me after more usage than the Vector light listed here.
