5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item -- Works as Advertised
I've had this unit for several years, and am very pleased with it. I take exception to the unfavorable reviews -- I suspect some people don't read directions. I have used it on basketballs, bicycle tires and numerous different vehicles (mine and friends). It has saved a lot of time and energy, in terms of trips to gas stations for tire fill-ups, and pumping hand pumps...

1.0 out of 5 stars Love Amazon. Hate this product!, September 22, 2007
The product description fails to disclose that the battery is LEAD/ACID. In spite of packaging information that states that it's a no-leak battery, I had acid on my counter after the first charge.

To make matters even worse, the fitting attached to the hose that's to be used for valve stems DOES NOT FIT. No matter which position I put the lock lever in, I had to force it over the threads on the stem. This shaves material off the seal in the fitting, leaving debris in the stem. Further, it was impossible to force in on far enough to actually depress the core and pump air into the tire.

I'm a nationally certified automotive master mechanic. It's not that I don't know how to operate these things. . .

Beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars AirPro Cordless Air Compressor, January 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Although the air compressor appeared to well designed, it did not live up to it's claims. The catalog had indicated that it could be used to inflate auto tires, which is the primary reason I purchased it. But the connector is not compatible with the valve stem of an auto tire!!! It is useless!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Money, July 15, 2008
By
My experience was similar to the other reviews. The connection doesn't fit and the battery is lead/acid (who would have thought?). To make things even worse, once you get the hose connected, the motor doesn't have enough power to inflate a car tire to 30 lbs.

Returning this thing cost me $9 in postage, plus a write down on the product itself because it was "opened". Save yourself a headache and get an electric unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Quality and Performance of Vector VEC251B Air Pro Compressor, September 28, 2009
This review is from: Vector VEC251B Corded/Cordless Rechargeable 120 PSI Air Compressor (Electronics)
I regret that I cannot provide a positive review of this product. The compressor failed after 10 months of light use and closer observation revealed that extremely cheap metal was used for the piston linkgage. I had noted earlier that the performance was degraded and now after openeing the unit and seeing the metal fragments - I now know why. By design, the unit likely cannot hold up to regular usage. Moreover, there are no serviceble parts inside except the lead acid battery. In summation, this is a poorly built Chineese made product that should be avoided and removed from the US market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item -- Works as Advertised, August 28, 2011
This review is from: Vector VEC251B Corded/Cordless Rechargeable 120 PSI Air Compressor (Electronics)
I've had this unit for several years, and am very pleased with it. I take exception to the unfavorable reviews -- I suspect some people don't read directions. I have used it on basketballs, bicycle tires and numerous different vehicles (mine and friends). It has saved a lot of time and energy, in terms of trips to gas stations for tire fill-ups, and pumping hand pumps for bicycle tires and basketballs and volleyballs. In order for the unit to work properly, the part that attaches to the valve stem has to be pushed all the way down (a little twisting back and forth helps), and then the flip lock closed. The pressure gauge is very accurate, the hose and body are rugged and durable, and the LED lights to illuminate the valve stem (or whatever) are very helpful, especially in a somewhat dark garage or at night. The alternate adaptors (e.g., for basketballs, etc.) store in a nice compartment on the top of the unit, so they won't get lost. It holds its charge very well (enough to fill the air on four car tires that were very low). And it has a handy locking mechanism to lock the trigger-type on switch in the on or off position. It comes with a wall charger and a auto plug-in charger, as well (at least I have an attachment that does that, and I can't think of anything else it would have come with). I highly recommend this unit.

I am 65 and when my tires need air I have problems with the air things at gas stations. It's just too hard for me. I received this a few weeks ago and was please that it was so easy and fast, and I had great results. I would tell others to buy this if they want to make the task of putting air in your tires easy and fast.

After using a noisy Air Station for a few years, this product is a great step up. Much quieter, small, good power.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vector VEC251B Corded/Cordless Rechargeable 120 PSI Air Compressor (Electronics)
I purchased this product two weeks ago and it was a waste of my money. I should have thrown the same amount of money in a wishing well or on lottery. It will not even fill a biycle tire let alone an automobile tire. Waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will inflate a car tire..., October 14, 2010
This review is from: Vector VEC251B Corded/Cordless Rechargeable 120 PSI Air Compressor (Electronics)
I was very surprised to read some of these reviews. I will not leave home without my Airpro and when my dog chewed through the hose, I immediately went online to order another one. I have used this device to inflate my Volkswagen Toureg, Dodge Durango, and my friends Chrysler Minivan. The tire pressure were 20psi, 22psi, and 18psi respectively. This device inflated each tire under 10 minutes and needed no special attachment to the hose in order to connect to the valve stems on the tires. I have also used it to inflate my bicycle tires for the past two summers so I was truly at a loss as to why it has received such poor reviews from a couple people. My friend was so impressed with it when I used it on her minivan that she bought one for each of her children who are in college. I especially like that if it does need a charge, you can plug it into the car charger.

I highly recommend this for anyone!

This review is from: Vector VEC251B Corded/Cordless Rechargeable 120 PSI Air Compressor (Electronics)
We recently experienced low tire pressure and no way to add air. Should this happen again we are set. The product has been tested and works great. It is perfect as it is compact and fits nicely into the trunk. The shipper sent it as promised and the compressor arrived in excellent condition.
