5.0 out of 5 stars Superior graphics + action pack gameplay- You get Vectorman, May 26, 2004

This is the only genesis game ive played showing the BEST graphics! unlike its downgraded sequel, Vectorman gives a more cherry bang for the buck type of gameplay consisting of 16 levels i believe an even though vectorman II has 21-23 levels, This one stands out. Now im not here to talk about vectorman II so check out my review for that if you wish. Now,The humans left Earth from pollution an you as a robot get to clean up. You are a sludge pilot who delivers (you guessed it) sludge to the sun...Boring huh? well while you were doing so, Raster; leader of robots went haywire an somehow with out-of-the-blue magical powers, took over the other robots (except you cuz you were gone) an commanded them to destroy the humans when they returned. Now not too good of a story but oh well this isnt an RPG so you kick some robot ass, morph into stuff like a spider, jet pack dude, bike-thing, rocket and more. You get weapons (you shoot out of your hands) like rapid fire, spread shot, super shot (the best one) and more. Dont worry. There are numorous bosses an robots just waiting to get their asses blown off andf only YOU can make that happen. Give vectorman a shot and it will greatly give you nthe idea that The SNES may not be better than the Genesis after all... An for those who got ris of or dont own genesis's, you can buy this game off RealOne Arcade for 10$ But i still prefer the genesis version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Solid Shooter for the Time, March 5, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Vectorman (Video Game)
This is indeed a very solid game that had been released towards the end of the 16-bit era, and considering that
this game was released on Sega Genesis, it is very amazing how the system was able to render the CGI quality
2D graphics, as it was very difficult for developers back in the early to mid 1990's to develop a game that
would display somewhat realistically, and the game characters move at a very smooth frame rate as well, which
also adds to the already wonderful CGI quality experience. The game also has a very decent futuristic-like
soundtrack that promises to keep you immersed into this classic until the end. Another wonderful thing about
this game to note is the ease of controls; it is your typical simplistic two-button controls to jump and shoot,
and it actually works real well with this game, it is certainly one of those plug and play games, and it is perfect
for those who prefer simple controls, yet a little back-story and a very immersive environment at the same time.
You can either pick this up for your Genesis, or download it via Wii Virtual Console, but either way, you
will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even in the mid-90s, Genesis still did, January 22, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Vectorman (Video Game)
It's the mid-90s. Nintendo and Sega were competing head-to-head against each other by battling using their main game consoles and games, including the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. Nintendo tried to use the Virtual Boy to help, but that failed. They were even competing with the handheld section of the industry with the Game Boy and the Game Gear! As the wait for the 64-bit era was coming very close, game companies now wanted to enhance their graphics by pre-rendering them. Sega's entry rivaled Nintendo's Donkey Kong Country. It doesn't look like it, but that entry is Vectorman.

Vectorman is nothing like Donkey Kong Country at all, but the two things they have in common are their superior graphics and their late release dates.

The gameplay is awesome. You get to shoot in all directions, double jump, and get different weapons. Vectorman can also shapeshift when you collect a certain item. In a water level, he swims farther up, which is pretty helpful since he doesn't swim. There are some levels that change the gameplay a bit. The second level, for example, is an on-rails boss battle that shows off more fancy-looking fake-3D graphics.

The bosses are pretty difficult, but once you get the pattern down, you can defeat them. After you defeat them, Vectorman does this pose where he kinda copies Mario with the peace sign, but he uses both his hands this time. He also acts like this kinda "WHOO! That was awesome!" kinda thing.

The sounds define the action genre. Shooting sounds, explosion sounds, and catchy background music.

Overall, this is a really great game that is a must-have for Genesis fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars You don't wanna mess with Mr. VECTOR!, October 12, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Vectorman (Video Game)
Just got this game a little while ago and gotta say it brings back all the memories of how this was a ground breaking game. The graphics, sound, music, animation, gameplay, heck even the storyline was really great and they crammed it all into a classic 16-BIT cartridge.

The story isn't really complicated, it almost reminds me of Terminator as robots made by man decide to crash the party, except this time there is one robot that's not down with that idea.

What makes this game so fun to play besides its amazing levels and fast action is the many different abilities Vector man has. For one thing you have a variety of weapons such as the Wave gun, Rapid fire Gun, Orb, Shields, and Bola! Then of course there is your standard blaster which is really handy too. Aside from that arsenal Vector man can morph into pretty much whaterver he pleases, Morphs are these little chunks of data you pick up and you temporarily can take the form of anything like a bomb, train, or Jet, to a Fish Cricket or Race Car! Yes it sounds wild and that's exactly what this game is about.

Well Like they said if you have an SNES you need to own Zelda or Mario Brothers if you own a Genesis or Megadrive you need this game! Its timeless and has so much re-playability.
