Simply a waste of time. Yes they are a very clever series of tricks to do arithmetic in your head, but with numerous exceptions and caveats. A bright student may look at these with some interest to see why they work, but for the vast majority of students there is no value in more rules to be learnt and certainly no understanding of basic maths to be gained.

This book was sort of okay, but I found VEDIC MATHEMATICS, based on the 16 vedic sutras more interesting than this.
