An epic journey of love and sacrifice...., February 24, 2005
This review is from: Veer Zaara (Audio CD)
Although, the soundtrack is memsmorizing as well, with such beautiful hymns from the legendary Ms. Lata Jee's melodic voice...The movie is also a legend in its own. Ever since such hindi classics as Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, and Lamhe...Yash Chopra, the true soul, the film director and producer, has enthralled us all with such emotional depth...

For the love of Veer Zaara, January 27, 2005
This review is from: Veer Zaara (Audio CD)
If you think you have heard best of hindi music, think again! Until you hear the music of Veer Zaara, you haven't heard anything!
I am not an Indian and I don't understand Hindi. I went to see the movie because the movie trailers carried music that was divine to my ears. I believe that a true lover of music appreciates the music for itself and not just for the lyrics; hence the lyrics can be in German, Chinese or Portugees. Of course, I have to mention that the lyrics are wonderful and very, very touching (I depended on the subtitles while watching the movie)
The music of this CD/film had been created by late Mr. Madan Mohan. It is said that his son has found some 120 songs (music) after his death and these tunes have been recreated in Veer Zaara thirty years after his death (doesn't that itself sounds bit like a movie?).
If you buy the original CD set which consists of two CDs, it will be a treasure for any collector or for any hindi music/movie fan. The CD carries 9 songs from the movie VZ, and two bonus songs. The critics describe the movie, Veer Zaara as having an overdose of emotions, which is quite true. If you watch the movie, these songs will have much more meaning when you hear them.
The song `Tere Liye' by Latha Mangeshkar and Roop Kumar Rathod would undoubtedly be the most popular and has also been nominated for two awards; while my favourite being `Do pal' which makes the movie trailer of the parting couple run in my head every time I hear it.
The music... is beautiful - simply beautiful....

seen the movie, cant wait to get the sound tract, December 10, 2004
This review is from: Veer Zaara (Audio CD)
Just saw my very first hindi movie, almost on a lark really, but better to say out of curiosity. Keep seeing them at the local Indian market I go to because of my addiction to Indian cooking and (eating). They were selling tickets to special showing of the film Veer Zarra so I snagged them for wife and me. WOWIE ZOWIE What a refreshing and wonderful entertainment it is! Very different but reminiscent of big budget musicals when color film first came out. Absolutely Epic cinematography a treat for the eyes and music sweet dessert for the ears. Very cool. Now I am hooked, and have to have more! Plan to go to the once-a-month films being presented here for now on. Half, if not most, of the fun is the (mostly Indian)audience "participation" in the film- it is a cultural trip. Have come to find how important film is in India and the part it plays in Indian culture. Almost a moral sort of tale or story telling approach. Refreshing. Anyway, kept humming the tunes and remembering all the scenes after a whole week has already gone by- too weird.?. So just had to have the audio only becuase I could not find the DVD available yet. Plan to start buying Indian DVDs after this experience. Reviews of the other lady reviewing Indian music (and waiting to see the film that I just saw) on this site pretty enlightening and accurately describe experience and emotions that I just enjoyed. I am going to buy a few of her recommended films. I would not be surprised to see this the next big thing in the U.S. Bet we will start seeing these actors in domestic films too. Hollywood could be reminded what entertainment ought to be from Bollywood!
