Just to add on to what Mattyr1974 reviewed, yes it is a 5.00 balaclava about the price of a subway sammich so think of it as disposable. It fits like second skin just enough to cut the chilly air in MN when I am on the sportbike heading to work or to wear as a sweat barrier on hot track days. I like a snugger fitting helmet and this balaclava does not make my helmet fit any tighter. The only item I would like to elaborate on is the lack of neck protection from the wind or cold. There is not enough to tuck into my jacket, take into account I wear a XXL helmet and have a 18.5" neck so it might just be me. Oh yes, and the fit around your eyes is sloppy like the photo shows and the stitching is bunched at your nose. If you are looking for good neck coverage and a custom fit check out another balaclava that I did a review on. In conclusion this is a fantastic, thin, disposable 5 dollar balaclava.

Although I haven't tried this balaclava "in action," here is my first impression (if I remember I'll update my review come fall...)
This Balaclava is super thin, which is nice - it'll fit under my motorcycle helmet just fine. The unfortunate part is that the seam is right in the middle of your face, and it'll rub quite uncomfortably against the tip of your nose. You can flip it inside-out but it does have a slightly different feel on the inside (same material, but the weave is different). I was also disappointed (like I often am with Amazon purchases) in the overly large packaging - the balaclava is thin enough you could get it into a standard size envelope, and you could have probably fit 20-30 of them in the actual box it came in - but that's another story...

This is not something to use as a primary head cover. It is perfect for those who hate scratchy winter caps or for under helmets to keep the clean and comfortable. My son loves this under his winter cap.

I used this on Mt. Hood, notorious for cold winds near the top, and it worked great! It was warm, light, and silky. I turned it inside out so my nose wouldn't feel the seam and it was fine! It covered my neck enough, too.

Not what you want to order if you are looking for a balaclava of substantial thickness. For me, this is so thin it was not worth buying even at the low price that it was.

I ride my motorcycle everyday as long as it's dry out regardless if it is 20F or 110F. I've always wanted an inexpensive face mask that would have some sort of neck protection so there wouldn't be wind running into my helmet to my face and neck. Well, this did the trick. I love it for the price it is. I wouldn't mind getting a longer one though, not that this one is too short to protect my neck. I just want something longer so I can still have a large range of head-movement without chancing the mask getting un-tugged.

This was perfect for 4 bucks with free shipping!! My snowboarding and snowmobile helmets fit their best with a thin style headliner/ full face balaclava. This is a very fair price!!!

Bought this to keep the wind off my neck and bugs off my face. So far, has worked well this winter. Look forward to seeing how comfortable it is in the summer.

Very thin and and needs something to help cover it and help block the wind. This item might be good under a helment, but not without a helment to block wind.

I needed a combo head cover, to keep my inside of my motor cycle helmet clean after work,
and have a neck and face cover. This works well in mild weather, not for deep deep cold stuff. Its $5, so no duh, right ? Its thin, is a good under cover or just addition to your layers. I usually snow ski without any kind of scarf, face mask, or balaclava, as i get to warm. This would be a good choice when you just dont know if its going to be an ice blast on the mountain, or warm n toasty. I bought 2, this cheap, its a no brainer. will fit most, its quite stretchy. Wouldnt use this as a liner for a hard hat ( too lightweight ). |
