I love vega one nutritional shake!
Melanie LeGro
Very tasty - good for a meal replacement or if you need more protein in your diet.
Naomi
For one thing the taste was terrible, but that's my personal opinion.

My husband and I have been using Vega One regularly for over 8 months now. I'm reading some of these reviews, and they talk about making people sick or not being filling. I don't know what they're talking about! We've been mixing it with almond or coconut powder, mixed berries, hemp, flax and chia seeds, and kale or spinach. It's delicious and very filling, and has NEVER made us sick. Along with other clean, healthy eating, not only have we lostover 80 pounds, but we feel great.

Just wanted to put in my own personal experience with it, in case people read some of these other bad reviews.

Please do your research about this product before buying it! I purchased it without researching because I was looking for a meal replacement, and I thought it couldn't be that bad if it's at Whole Foods. Boy, was I wrong...

It tasted great. I had the vanilla one and it tasted nutty, almost like pistachio. I loved it...until two hours later, when I became super sick. I had diarrhea, extreme bloating/gas, and cramps all night long. I drank the shake at noon, and was still feeling crummy when I went to bed at 11pm that night.

I wondered if it was something else I had eaten that day and didn't think about the shake at first. But it didn't make sense because I had eaten really clean that day and my hubby had eaten the same thing and was fine (minus the shake).

So I started doing research on it. I just googled "vega diarrhea" and a lot of results came up!! Apparently there's a ton of people out there who experience adverse side effects from this drink - a lot worse than I had it, apparently. Some people even threw up, had nausea, chills, etc. People are attributing it to something called "saviseed" in the ingredients. THis product apparently has been banned in CAnada and have been pulled off shelves. But it hasn't been identified in the US as unsafe. On one website, there was a statement issued by Vega claiming that the products made during 2011 were unsafe and made people sick, but the current batches should be ok, blah blah. But notice, that saviseed is still an ingredient and there are still numerous postings out there made by people in 2013 about getting sick from consuming this product.

PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ON THIS PRODUCT PRIOR TO PURCHASING.

Alternatively, I have been using the Raw Meal shakes and they have been great - keeps me full and satisfied. Doesn't taste as great as the Vegas ones, though. But I did research on these shakes and haven't found anything negative or unsafe about it.

Awesome rich vanilla flavour! Mixes great in my vitamix with 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup water and one ice cubes--that's all you need. Also tastes awesome with any kind of fruit. I justed mixed this with some fresh blueberries and it was awesome! Highly recommend.

Hello,
I had a severe reaction to Vanilla Vega One product that I bought in February of 2013. My symptoms included diarrhea and eventually bloody diarrhea. I never attributed it to this product until recently. After being diagnosed with colitis, I thought back in my mind as to when the symptoms began; days after I started taking the Vega One shake. However, the label on the Vega one container assured consumers that detoxifying symptoms such as diarrhea may occur when starting use of the product; so I never discontinued use of the shake mix.
The Canadian Health department issued a warning against this product in February 2013, due to the presence of K. oxytoca bacteria, which can cause symptoms such as bloody diarrhea.
(sorry they wont let me post the link to the canadian governments health website, just search it)
American consumers were however were not warned about the dangers of this product. Thus, it was sold in places like Whole Foods while simultaneously being recalled in Canada.
I would stay away from any of these products being that the heads of this company will do anything to make money, even if that means putting their loyal customer's health at risk.

I have been using Vega protein for over 5 years, usually as my breakfast smoothie. If I'm running errands and miss my breakfast, my day does not feel complete until I have my Vega smoothie. So I will have it for dinner.
I was disappointed with the new formula but I continue to use the product because I can feel the results. I now use 2 scoops of Vega with 16 oz water, one banana and 2 T. organic virgin coconut oil. I prefer the French Vanilla flavor but also like the Natural and Vanilla Chai. After the recall I found I had used 21 containers that had been recalled. I spoke with my doctor who said that I would have seen symptoms if I had been affected by the Chloramphenicol. I did have lab work done and nothing was found.
Mike Adams of Natural News tested protein powders for heavy metals and found Vega to be one of the cleanest. I highly recommend this product.

I have tried several meal replacement shakes and I think Vega is one of the best. I used to have a Vanilla shake around a 8am each morning (2 cups of unsweetened Almond milk, 1/4 Avocado, 1 cup of frozen blueberries and 1 scoop of Vanilla Vega). However, around 1-2pm I would always experience some bloating/gas. I have noticed this with a couple other brands too. My doctor told me I likely have a Stevia sensitivity. I looked on the Vega website and its said that the Chocolate and Natural have lower amounts of Stevia. I have since switched to the Natural and no more gastrointestinal distress! It's a little bit less tasty than the Vanilla but I add a few more blueberries and sometimes put in some tahini.
