In theory this book is a great idea, but in reality it is a lazy insult to vegan diners in the NY metropolitan area. Misspellings, misinformation, glaring omissions and general mistakes abound: you'll find yourself fact-checking on the internet & then wondering why you didn't just use the web for your info in the first place. Plus, the "reviews" come off more like "I went here once, wrote it off on my taxes for this book and here's what I thought". Vegan foodies are looking for in-depth info beyond restaurant owners relationships to other restaurant owners and reviews like, "their seitan was good". There are even many lengthy reviews of vegetarian restaurants that close with, "you'll have to ask what's vegan". Um, then why did I waste good money on a book titled "The Vegan Guide"?
I'm a bibliophile, but I'd still point the curious and the educated to places like supervegan.com before wasting $10 on this book. I was so disappointed that I'd return it but for the fact that it would cost me almost as much for return shipping.
