A book packed with easy, tasty vegan recipes,
By Asha Sahni (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Vegan Taste of Eastern Europe (Vegan Cookbooks) (Paperback)
A Vegan Taste of Eastern Europe has several sections - Soups, Main Courses, Accompaniments, Sauces, Snacks, Grains, Breads, Salads, Desserts and Baking. I have tried a number of recipes in the book and some of my favourites include Brown Lentil & Vegetable Soup, Stuffed Cabbage Leaves, Steamed Potato Dumplings, Garlic Sauce, White Bean Spread, Cornbread and Carrot & Chickpea Salad. I find the recipe instructions clear and easy to follow. Some of the recipes may need pre-planning in terms of ingredients, depending on your storecupboard - for instance I do not keep vegan cheese, vegan cream cheese or vegan yoghurt in stock. Ingredients included in many recipes include potato, flour (you could substitute rice or other non-wheat flour if you are wheat intolerant), cornflour, soya milk and tomatoes. For cake heaven try the Hungarian Apple Cake - incredibly moreish!
