Solitaire addicts beware!,

This review is from: Las Vegas Cool Hand (Game Cartridge)
Although I only knew how to play one type of solitaire I bought this GB game assuming that I'd just play that one type. Boy, I was wrong. There are 4 styles of solitaire to choose from! The instructions read like a medical text, but using the "hint" option and a little practice I've learned to play Klondike, Calculation, Elevens, and Monte Carlo. What fun! There are also options to play BlackJack and Cribbage, but I'm too addicted to solitaire to give those games a try. I guess that means I'll have two games waiting when I get sick of solitaire (like that's possible!). Be warned, though, the music is AWFUL. Luckily there is an option to turn the music OFF. Enjoy and happy gaming!

Cribbage point counting problem,
By A Customer
This review is from: Las Vegas Cool Hand (Game Cartridge)
I bought this game solely for the purpose of playing cribbage. I would like to warn serious players of an odd, to put it kindly, counting convention that the game employs. The game scores a run of four as six points, rather than four points. For example, 2345 is six points (treated as two runs of three, 234 and 345) rather than a run of 4 points. This isn't a programming glitch. The written instructions which explain scoring also handle it the same way. Obviously for those who would score this hand as four points, the entire dynamic of the game is changed. An additional quirk...the game does not score a flush! But for these problem I found the game enjoyable to play. I also recently purchased the hoyle card gameboy which contains a cribbage game. The hoyle cribbage game is much more simplistic and tougher on the eyes, but it does appear to score properly. The cool hand game on the other hand has three playing levels, a help feature which will choose your crib discards (this feature is not available when you choose the expert level as far as I can tell),and you can choose various types of cribbage games (eg. seven card).
