I first tried Vegeta after hearing about it while visiting Eastern Europe in the late 90's. It has since become a kitchen staple. I use Vegeta when making soups, stews, Chicken or Veal Marsala or Piccata. Vegeta can be used to season rice or pasta. Since it is made from vegetables, I have used it to enrich the flavor of vegetarian Thanksgiving 'stuffing'. Vegeta can also be used to enhance sauces and gravies. If you haven't tried Vegeta, I urge you to do so. I believe that it is widely used across Europe.

Vegeta allows me to come real close to duplicating flavors of Serbian style dishes I hadn't tasted since my granmother died 25 years ago.

They now have Barbecue, Fish and Salad variants which contain no msg.

This product is fantastic. It truly is the prince of all spices. I've used it to zest up over 9000 recipes. I know what you're thinking, "what, 9000? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" But it's really just that good. I highly recommend it.

This makes the BEST soups. The people who rate it low b/c of MSG are stupid, tons of stuff has MSG and the quantity of MSG is insignificant when you consider just HOW LONG a jar lasts

I'm so glad to see this on Amazon! I first bought this years ago at a Hungarian food stand, but the stand is gone now and I was wondering where to get more. I add some of this to broth to boost the flavor when I make soups, rice, and cous-cous. I like the vegetable flavor, it's much better than other vegetable boullions I've tried, and it's convenient to use. I, too, wish it did not have msg, but you don't need to use much, so for me the amount of msg is tolerable.

My husband fell in love with this stuff when he lived in Russia. It's a great seasoning and a pretty good (broth) soup mix. If it didn't have MSG in it w'd put it on everything.

I use Vegeta all the time. My local source for it closed (!), so I started buying it at Amazon. A little goes a long way, and it really does make just about anything with a sauce or that is "wet" taste better. I use it in place of salt. You will have friends and family wondering how the simple things are so tasty!

Note: it contains MSG. I say this only to poke fun at people who are concerned about it; every time I mention Vegeta, anyone who knows what it is says, "Did you know it has MSG in it?" Seriously folks, pay attention to Real Live Science. The studies that have purported to show a link between it and some kind of allergic reaction or sensitivity have all been debunked. Real scientific studies show no correlation.

Oh, and most of your savory foods you love (including broccoli, cooked meats, soy sauce, Worcestershire, tomatoes, parmesan cheese) have naturally-occurring glutamates, including MSG. If you eat any of these things and don't experience the "chinese food syndrome", realize any MSG sensitivity is all just the power of suggestion. So stop being influenced by pop culture and enjoy!

It's one of the best Croatian products, which changed cooking all over the middle European countries.
You can use it in all "salty" recipes and you won't regret. LOVE IT!

Vegeta is a great seasoning for almost any thing you can cook. It brings out wonderful flavors in the dish, especially things like chili, spaghetti, casseroles and seasoning for any meat.
