4.0 out of 5 stars how does your garden grow March 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is full of detailed information about plants and how to grow them. I found a lot of plants in this book that I had no idea what they were or that they were even eatable. As detailed as this book is, there were still a lot of plants that are not covered.
I am planing a garden this year and will find this book useful so I put this as a referance book on my kindle for furture information as my garden grows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for the organic gardener August 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I absolutely love this book with its wealth of observation on the cultivation of vegetables before the invention of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. I have to say that as a Kindle book, it is hard to dip into (and this is what makes it 4 rather than 5 star) - and this is a dip into kind of book - but I suspect that I couldn't afford an original edition even if I could find it. The descriptions of what are now heritage varieties, coming from a time when they were just what was available, are free from the seed catalogue hype, with very detailed and specific cultivation advice. Worth it for the tomato section alone.

I haven't finished the entire book (it's fairly dry); however, the scope of information is excellent & highly useful to gardeners & preppers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good guide May 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
this is a very good guide based on early American planting tips for vegetables. It tells how to propagate, start from seed or graft. how to collect seeds etc., soil preparation, and many helpful tips. A little dry reading, but for the avid gardener, it is a great guide and I am planning on utilizing it for my garden this year.

It has some basic descriptions of what the plants are and what they are good for but it needs more thorough information.
