Book Description

The 101 series expands with an all-new, everything-you-need-to-know guide to making vegetarian meals. This cookbook features 101 delicious, diverse, and accessible recipes, all of which have been thoroughly kitchen tested. Vegetarian 101 also features a simple, contemporary-looking design that's as practical as it is elegant, with measures calculated using both traditional and metric quantities. Scattered throughout are beautiful full-color photographs that enhance the book's utility and visual appeal. These practical, hands-on kitchen resources also look great on the kitchen bookshelf--and because their durable flexi-binding is sewn, they are extremely easy to keep open and lay flat on your kitchen counter while you're cooking from their pages. Every home cook can appreciate how a lie-flat binding makes a cookbook much easier to use!

Vegetarian 101 starts off with a detailed introduction that covers the basics of the book's topic and provides plenty of helpful how-tos, insider tips, and keys to best results. The idea is to provide everything a reader needs to know in order to make these recipes successfully. The 101 recipes included feature a breadth of different dishes drawn from a wide range of culinary traditions, all of them featuring clear, straightforward directions, and all of them delicious. The 101 series is perfect both for beginners and more experienced cooks looking to broaden their kitchen horizons.

2.0 out of 5 stars Formatting disaster...most quantities missing October 1, 2012
By Kellie
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
After loving Slow Cooker 101 by this author, I am disappointed with the formatting disaster which has befallen Vegetarian 101 (at least on my Kindle and on Kindle for the PC). The left margin cuts off 1-5 characters of every line, starting with the Table of Contents and continuing through all the recipes. Sure you can read the names of most ingredients, but you're left in the dark as to quantities.
Interestingly enough, I 'copied' an ingredient list to show an example of the missing quantities, but when I 'pasted' it to include in this review, the quantities miraculously pasted here -- what the heck??
Hope there's an update to fix it soon. Otherwise, the workaround is to use the 'copy' function and then paste it elsewhere so you can read the quantities. But I only tested that option on 2 recipes, so who knows if it would work on all of them.
So back to hoping for an update to resolve the problem. Once I see the update, I anticipate I'll be able to update the rating....but will have to wait and see.
*Edit to add: I reported it to Amazon, so at least they are aware.

2.0 out of 5 stars Major Formatting Issues October 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
While the recipes sound good there is no way to actually make them. All of the recipes are missing the amounts of the ingredients.

Love the recipes but the ingredients lists are all shown as cut off so can't actually use these. Disappointed but gave me some great ideas.

I'm not vegetarian but I have found really great tasting recipes in here. The flavors and spices for these recipes are well worth it.
