Very surprised to find the recipes tasty, March 20, 1999
This review is from: Vegetarian Cooking for Healthy Living : An Ultra Low-Fat Nutrition Guide for Living Well (Paperback)
Due to the steroids and impurities in meats these days,I decided to prepare lesser meat portions and include a veggie casserole or main dish along with our meat meals.I made the lentil casserole and was doubtful the whole time I was preparing it.But it was great and the family requested it again in place of potatos!I plan on purchasing the book because the recipes call for common ingredients already in my pantry--not the wierd stuff you find only in health food stores!(like alot of vegetarian cook books). The recipes may appear to be 'yucky' or sound like the flavors just CAN'T come together--but take heart-be brave and try them."TRY IT,YOU'LL LIKE IT" Pat F,

Almost Vegetarian, Ultra Low Fat, December 9, 1999
This review is from: Vegetarian Cooking for Healthy Living : An Ultra Low-Fat Nutrition Guide for Living Well (Paperback)
The recipes are very easy and most of the ingredients I had on hand...except the chicken broth. Being a vegetarian for the last 9 years this is something I would never have in my kitchen. But I was able to substitute if for vegatable broth. I think the recipes are easy and tasty but the title is misleading.

Very informative book, although misleading in it's title, February 21, 1998

I found this book to be very informative, with many low fat recipes, however, as a vegetarian, I was disappointed to see that many of the recipes called for chicken broth, and a few even called for geletan, clearly not vegetarian, although the title indicates so. I found that to be misleading, however the receipes are easily adaptable to vegetarian ones, by simply using vegetable stock in place of chicken broth. I feel a more acurate title would have been; Low Fat Cooking For Healthy Living.

This book is fabulous! The recipes are easy and do not require you to "break the bank" by buying gourmet herbs, spices, etc. The meals were tasty; my whole family enjoyed them. I only wish Ter Meer had additional books with new recipes.
