5.0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD AND EASY TO PREPARE RECIPES.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL EASY TO FOLLOW COOKBOOK. THE AVERAGE PREP TIME IS 15-20 MINUTES. THE PRICE IS RIGHT AND WOULD BE A NICE GIFT FOR ANYONE.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures
This cookbook has beautiful pictures to bad the food does not live up to them. I tried 2 recipes both were bland and tasteless. I was so disappointed that I throw the book in the trash. Don't waste your money and time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and accessible vegetarian meals, March 6, 2007

This is my favorite vegetarian cookbook, and I have several. There is a photo of each finished recipe, the instructions are precise and clear, the recipes are mostly easy and the ingredient lists are simple and accessible at any major food market. None of those specialty ingredients that you find in other books.

Also, many recipes use shortcuts like canned and frozen ingredients, which makes it possible to keep them on hand and reduces prep time. With the addition of a few fresh ingredients, you can be ready to go. Each recipe has a helpful tip, shortcut or serving suggestion, which comes in handy.

This one is a must for anyone who wants to try vegetarian cooking.

4.0 out of 5 stars No weird ingredients!, March 29, 2011
By
I LOVE this cookbook! I just got it from my local library's book sale it is seriously great. I've made 4 recipes from it and all were awesome - even for my non-vegetarian husband. Other than the occasional tofu recipe which is cool, none of the recipes call for weird meat substitutes (which I hate). Most just call for a variety of beans, which are easy to keep on hand in dry or canned forms. Lots of soups, lots of casserole-type things, and some useful variations (I never know what to have when I make the hubby tacos, and couscous with a bit of tofu is sort of ingenious as a taco stuffing). Full-color photos of all the recipes make it much easier to be inspired. I docked it a couple stars because occasionally it will call for something like "tamale sauce" that I would prefer it just tell me how to make from scratch (obv I can use pre-made stuff if I want to). Other than that, totally recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Vegetarian Cookbook, February 18, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really love this cookbook because it uses simple ingredients to make tasty meals and what I love best is the picture for every meal! Some cookbooks only show pictures for some meals but this one shows a picture for each one. I like the simple ingredients since some vegetarian cookbooks use ingredients that are difficult to find or use. A friend of mine bought this book for me and I loved it so much I bought another one to give as a gift to my mother in law - she loves this book also and she is not even a vegetarian!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, April 2, 2009
This is an excellent cookbook for vegetarians. The recipes are easy, most dishes are quickly made, and most recipes use basic ingredients that you will have at home. It has become one of my go-to cookbooks.

Every finished recipe is pictured. The ingredients are simple, and the instructions to prepare each dish are so concisely stated, that even the novice will enjoy whipping these delightful dishes up. The recipe ideas are fresh and innovative, they will impress your family and friends. The flavor and texture combinations are delicious, and you will want to make them over, and over again. The book is an economical find, and will soon become a classic in your Cook Book library.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for a novice, November 12, 2000
By
Okay, so maybe I'm just not that schooled in cooking but I found this book extremely time consuming. From pulling out my dictionary to find out what some of the incredients were to calling my mom to have her walk me through the steps--I did not feel like Better Homes was holding my hand. And another thing, the dishes never tasted how I thought they would. They tasted fine, just not what I expected. One huge positive, the finished product pictures are beautiful.
